BANGKOK: -- The couple accused of murdering a 79-year-old Japanese man before dismembering and dumping his body in a canal in September last year pleaded not guilty in their first appearance at their trial yesterday.

Pornchanok Chaiyapa and her husband, Somchai Kaewbangyang, both 47, were presented to the Criminal Court yesterday morning on charges of the premeditated murder of Yoshinori Shimato, unlawful detention, concealing and destroying a body to cover up murder, theft and electronic card fraud.
The couple denied all charges and requested the court provide them with lawyers.

It wasn't them, it was the Burmese labourers.

"A Japanese man she dated prior to Shimato died after he fell down a flight of stairs in 1999."

They had to stab and suffocate Yoshinori Shimato since he insisted on living in a single story house.

They don't have a lawyer yet. Good. That's obviously why they pleaded not guilty, thinking the old "deny, deny, deny" route the way to go.

Hopefully, if found guilty later, the lying plea will increase the sentence.

OK, but who has killed Lora Palmer? This question is much older.

What an original comment, never seen that said on Thai Visa before coffee1.gif

I thought they had already confessed?

Assume they simply entered a plea of not guilty, until they are assigned a lawyer, which translated for this report to they denied all charges.

...after an explicit confession....so much for justice....

Wasn't it suicide ? aaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

why doesn't it surprise me? And The TAT expects more Japanese to arrive this year right???

Truly Amazing

Yeah, but which one is it that are they denying murdering?

I remember when a tiny article appeared in Japan about one lousy case of Dengue fever in Bali, that affected a Japanese person.

That incident ruined a tourist promo campaign.
