PATTAYA: -- Officers from the Royal Thai Navy Bomb Disposal Unit were called to a Transport Company located in the Northern outskirts of Pattaya after a live hand grenade was left at the entrance to the compound.

Banglamung Police were also in attendance at the “Pack & Moving” Transport Company Compound located in the Northern outskirts of Pattaya on Thursday Morning.

The Bomb Disposal Team determined the explosive device was live and it was removed and safely destroyed.

I guess hand grenades are readily available here... In the USA, guns are everywhere but you don't hear about grenades so much.

M61 Hand Granade is a military issue Granade used mostly by the U.S. military and the Canadian forces.

The impactis is fatal.

wonder how it's available to public here in Thailand ?

Don't fool yourself, such grenades are easily available if you have the money and know the right people in Thailand.

That grenade is a standard U.S. military grenade, and there are annual military "joint exercises" between U.S. and Asian military units.

Including Thailand and other countries.

You can imagine the rest.

I suspect the grenade is at least several years old ..... maybe much more than several years.

Question should be: How otherwise do you legally dispose of such an illegally acquired item?
