BANGKOK, Jan 9 -- A Thai vocational student won first prize at the the Harbin Ice and Sculpture competition held in Harbin, China, the sixth consecutive year that Thailand has won first prize.

Vocational Education Commission Deputy Secretary-General Aganit Klungsang reported that 69 teams participated in the Harbin Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival 2015 in Harbin.

Each team was tasked to create an ice sculpture within four days in temperatures as low as -27 to no more than -21 degrees Celsius said the official, adding that Thailand's team of students from the Saraburi Vocational College seized first prize for their masterpiece called "High Speed Train Building Stronger Relationship toward the Future", which represented Thai-Chinese diplomatic relations for the past four decades.

Two other ice sculptures from the Surat Thani and Saowapa vocational college student teams netted second prizes for their works.

Thailand has sent teams to the festival since 2010, making this the sixth year in a row that the nation has won first prize. (MCOT online news)

Cool ... catchy title for the sculpture too :)

No surprise, after all the Thais have so many places to practice.blink.pngw00t.gif

They have no place to practice?I saw Ice/Snow Festival in Sapporo few years ago and

sculpture from Thailand had won first prize there.

The pictures I've seen from previous Harbin Ice festivals are amazing. Looks like its worth planning a visit.

Nice to know that Harbin Bangkok, a profit making entity, charges white people more than Asians. Boycot this shameless place at all cost! And spare me the 'but Thais earn less than you bogus', cause there are a l8t of wealthy Thais as well.

It is probobably easier for Thais to achieve success outside of Thailand. Think more Thais should work in China. Seen some do well in Singapore and Hong Kong

I'm so glad the article included photos of the winning sculpture!

The carvings looks so life-like in those blue jackets.

No, they don't charge white people more than Asians. They charge non-Thais more than Thais. Believe it or not, there are lots and lots of non-Thais who are actually non-white.

What is Harbin Bangkok? This thread is about the ice sculpture festival in Harbin, China.
