Rayong inspects vessel for clue to last year’s oil leak incident [WIP]

RAYONG, 16 Jan 2015, The Eastern Province of Rayong yesterday conducted an inspection on a vessel carrying 7,000 tons of asphalt ‘Tasco Amata’, looking for clues to the cause of last March’s oil at Mae Ramphung Beach.

The search was conducted by a combined force of officials from the province’s office of Natural Resources and Environment, Marine Department Region 6, and representatives from related units.

According to the officials, Tasco Amata belongs to Tipco Maritime Company Limited. It was anchored 8 nautical miles off the pier in Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate at the time of the search.

The vessel has all legal documents, including operating l and waste disposal licenses, the officials said, adding that no irregularities have been found on the ship.

Tasco Amata is a cargo ship.It was carrying 7,000 tons of asphalt destined for Singapore, Australia and China when the search took place.

The inspection is one of many attempts made by officials to identify the cause of the 2014 incident. So far there have been no credible clues leading to the culprit behind the leakage.

Maybe in the 9 months that passed since the leak and subsequent " inspection", the leak was repaired ! It will remain a mystery forever and I say

publicly, I was not there !

well apparently it was a leak from a PTT sea to shore pipeline, at the time anyway? So i suppose now that the authourities are looking to pin the blame on someone, and just like in Koh Tao, PTT have declined to provide evidence to support their innocence or admit their guilt, but by just saying it was not us, go away, their culpability is lost !!!!

Additionally, I do nlt remember at the time any mention of bitumous or asphalt ype oil being mentioned, it was bilge oil or crude they were talking about at the time. So where as this sudden line of enquiry come from???

Obviously the money is talking again in this case, but only as long as the blame can be pinned on another, which is probably a ship registered in another country .

Don't know what all this is about, its known what caused the failure the flexible ie PTT off loading hose, it was within service life of these hose types and failed prematurely
