Well i should have known better, but bought a Motorbike from a dealer a family friend owns upcountry, the motorbike was second hand Suzuki with only 5000k on it as it was a repo.

This is where the fun starts, they are processing the rego to get a plate, we have receipt and Sticker, but the plate is taking forever, over a month now.

Well i got busted the other day with no plate and the BIB wanted 1000 baht a bit of help and got it down to 500 baht. The BIB said 1 week get plate no problem, why take long time?

I dont want to have this issue again, is there a way to get a plate at Mo chit?

I think the issue is getting the release from the original owner for transfer maybe?

Has anybody got any answers how to resolve this?

Thanks

Hi

When I have brought second hands bikes before from a different province they still had the old number attached which is kept on until the new one arrives, which can take up to two months, If you had the receipt from the dealer along with the sticker surly that was enough to meet the legal requirement, maybe the police were trying it on, Even If you brought a new bike you still only get the receipt from the dealer until the new plate arrives.

The bike didnt have a plate, not sure of the reason, but yes they did say have to have a plate, maybe it was a long time to pay day?

he showed me some card saying stuff in thai pointing to a fine 1000baht and said thats what you have to pay, which i thought was a bit high, what options do you have to contest these things if they try it on?

Go to a local police station with the invoice and tell them that you want a temporary red plate.

They should give it to you for the time being. Costs 200B.

I know other members are going to tell you that it's not possible. We have five bikes in our group that are using reds from the local police station just now.

Is this so?

Just bought a bike, currently plateless, and am clueless :)
