Featured Replies

Careful!!! This hermit may have been placed standing on a casket that confines an evil spirit. And this evil spirit is escaping out.

This is the News Forum not the pub.

Maybe this ludicrous story belongs in the pub?

Soon the signs will go up:

Admission to see the levitating hermit 100 baht (farang 1,100 baht).

Dont miss the sign high up in the tree, 10,000 baht cover charge, could be painfull.

A Miracle in Ratchaburi. Who would of thought. drunk.gif

I remember a face of Jesus (Heyzoos?) that started appearing on the wall of a church in Mexico. Thousands of pilgrims and associated BS before it was realised that someone had whitewashed over a Willy Nelson concert poster.

That's the funniest thing I've ever read.

If a person can believe 2000 yrs ago a man walked on water and so on, surely others can believe in Mr. Freaking, so named by this article.

Only in Thailand.

The scams to come will blow your mind.

Are you really this uninformed or just the typical Thai bashing to to show some faux sense of superiority. The number of images of Jesus or the Virgin Mary appearing and being worshiped on everything from rocks to bread are countless and a common occurrence (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perceptions_of_religious_imagery_in_natural_phenomena#Christian_examples)

.

When an "article" of this nature is posted in the "News Forum," really, what should one expect?

"Sampao Ngamjam, 54, said she spotted a mysterious white object under a tree ..."

There is your clue. The buried statue is probably being pushed up by growing tree roots - and NOT by some mambo-jambo miracle.

"At that rate, the ascension could see the statue levitate up to heaven as soon as next week."

I realize this is a satirical comment concocted by Coconuts Bangkok. Still: cheesy.gif cheesy.gif cheesy.gif

What a crock, forget the tree roots, how about a spade and and a strong arm. Uneducated people were referred to by WCFields as there is a sucker born every minute.

'... freaking hermit head ...'Freaking? As in the slang 'freaking out'? Or the mild curse, oft pronounced as 'frigging'? Or freak/freaky - which is probably how it should read.

Only in Thailand.

Not at all - you need to read more. Jesus has appeared on a tortilla (http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/religion/article/Man-claims-burn-mark-on-tortilla-resembles-Jesus-5950739.php), a billboard for Pizza Hut (http://www.nytimes.com/1991/05/25/us/atlanta-journal-a-sign-it-s-jesus-or-a-lunch-bargain.html), and a bowling alley chimney (http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/1987-06-24/news/0180030208_1_bowling-alley-country-bowl-chimney). There are reports of statues of Jesus and various saints crying blood in different parts of Europe. And I recall being in Ireland at the time, perhaps 30 years ago, when crowds gathered around a statue of Mary that was said to levitate and mover about. In the scheme of things, a statue rising from the ground is pretty impressive. But it's always more fun to crack on the Thais, right? Hmmmm...

Religion and beliefs, what fools they are but they believe this Shit, If I ever get caught by a women with another women, I will tell her that she grew out of my knob to my surprise, and lets see if she SWALLOWS that

Yes because it happens every day in Thailand,

As a long time atheist it amuses the he11 out of me! I just don't understand why people put any value on stupid things like Freaking....or Jesus....or anything else.

Thanks, but I'll stick with Jesus on grilled cheese sandwiches. Herman's Hermits tune: "Something tells me I'm into something good...."

Tortilla? We don need no stinkin' tortillas. Us gavachos got Haysuse on toast! biggrin.png

It was later revealed that the local amateur dramatical society were making a budget remake of "Planet of the Apes" so everyone went home.

Or being scared to type.... hell !!

Religion and such scams (i know that I am using religion and scam in same sentence) become important due people's desperation and sense of helplessness. Would you agree people's situation in many of these villages are desperate?

Is it still desperation when there's a spooky lack of urgency?

Okay, then yes.
