I can't see Spurs winning anything this season maybe a cup run or two but they have not got the power and cutting edge at the moment, maybe that will change but attacking wise the loss of Bale is immense.

Arsenal will finish above you again...no change.

Oh dear, Mr Ed's got another boring day ahead of him.

The one particular aspect of the europa league i don't like is the latter stage inclusion of sides eliminated from the champions league. Should be quite simply one tournament or the other.

It really is the losers cup and i would hate the thought of United ever being involved again.

A different format i think will should be looked at as atm it is not a very good tournament to get excited about is it,and the Thursday night match slots devalues it immensely.

Oh dear Mr Red..... Now don't worry you have got 8 months to get used to the idea.... 5th place is a real possibility me thinks

Well last night was a pleasing performance, and great to see the other two teams a point a piece. Defoe was really spot on, both goals top drawer in my opinion, though I note the opposition were championship standard at best. Erikson's goal was simply superb (GB at his best) and it being his second appearance is priceless for the lad. Lamela had a good run out; an ideal game to get him started. AVB is quoted as saying Kaboul and Dembele are going to be fine, but Danny's ankle is gonna need to be looked at and further assessed. Could be out for Cardiff, but that is not a worry as Jan demonstrated just how comfortable he is at LB.

For me our game looked like it was a performance from last year with no clear CF target man inside the box. Against the top teams I fear Defoe just won't be able to penetrate and we will become predictable once more. Hence Soldado is still going to be first choice in my view.

All in all positives all around considering many starters were from the reserves! Fantastic depth now. Well done AVB. COYS

Ian, it's difficult to say in all honesty. Do I think you will win the league? Not a chance because winning the league is just as much about nerve as it is playing well and Spurs are not there yet. Cups? You might, but it's all dependant on who you meet to get to the final. Take the FA cup last year, we had Utd then had to play City. Tough break. Certainly tougher than Wigans route although they did beat City in the final.

Europa is a very good possibility for you, but does you guys and AVB actually want it?

We are taking the Europa seriously and so we should with our squad. Same applies to the FA cup.

Aside of needing our squad seeing regular playing time they are trophies to be won. The fans want silverware and AVB needs as much time, and as soon as possible to get a new team working as a unit. We can't go for too long with stuttering early season performances if we are to qualify for the CL. Its no secret AVB wants to play a 433 as our formation but as i'm aware only Eriksen is used to regularly playing within this set up so theres a lot of work to be done.

I had a very different view of the Eurpoa four years ago because we didn't have as good a squad and couldn't cope if we were to make a genuine top four challenge.

Chelsea dropped down to the Europa last season, did you see the look of ecstasy on the faces of the manager, players and fans when they won it? It has been devalued since we last won it in '84, but there are only 4 possible trophies to be won in a season, and I believe the fans of every club want to see their club win a trophy, no matter which one.

You mock Chelsea for celebrating then in the next sentence say it has devalued, then say you want to win it. Which ever way you cut it, it has more value than your last cup which is known as the Mickey Mouse cup.

So, if your were a goner, and I mean if, I am guessing even the Minnie Mouse Cup would send you into fits of rapture after all these years in the wildnerness, and at least something to get the cleaners preparing on your bare trophy cabinet... if you were a gooner, on a Spurs forum, of course.

A goner? I'm not dead yet! A gooner? I'll give you a clue. Since you won the MM cup we have won the EPL, the FA cup 3 times, the CL and the Europa Cup.

BTW, this isn't a Spurs forum, thread yes, forum no.

Oh, that's good that a Spurs fan thinks 50 years ago is irrelevant. Makes your trophy haul seem even more light weight. :-)
