Airport taxi

Featured Replies

Is the airport taxi in Chiang Rai, like the ones in Chiang Mai ? You pay a fixed price at the airport and they take you to your hotel? If so how much?

Chiang Rai, has the friendliest taxi drivers I've met in Thailand.

They always use the meter and always try to be of assistance to you.

I used them many times, from the airport or from the city and have no complaints.

Sorry, I wouldn't be able to help you with the price to your hotel......but it will be what the meter says.

Chiang Rai taxis are clean polite and always use the metre. about 30 baht flag fall and 10 baht a km. there is a 20 or 30 baht surcharge for airport pickups

The airport taxis use the meters plus a small airport surcharge....to go to downtown CR most any hotel will be less than 200 baht...more like 150 baht depending on where you want to go. Some of the best taxi service in all Thailand though don't expect a lot of English.

They now pick up inside the airport complex itself...just walk straight out of the terminal towards the parking area and you'll see them. They also have a booth inside the airport that says something like LADY TAXI where all the rates are clearly posted to include to charter one for 8-10 hours for 3000 baht for all day touring..but again don't expect English.

You can also call them to pick you up anywhere...but even though the dispatcher speaks some English don't assume that she will convey your exact location to the driver...they will ask for your phone number and the driver himself will call you back to confirm (zero English)...best if possible to get a thai person to call for you to tell them where you are....

Overall the CR taxi seems to be a pretty good bunch who drive you where you want to go using the meter with no BS or hassles. A rare thing in many places these days.

Last time I flew in about 9.30pm there were no taxis there. Airport said they couldn't call more. No option to get into town and way out in the sticks. Had 2 walk 2 miles with bags before we could flag down a taxi. Just saying...

Well..I landed at noon time and there wasn't any taxi either. Had to wait for one that dropped off. And the bloody sucker charged me 700thb which usually cost 600thb and he even has a thick skin to ask for 200thb more at destination which I just ignored. Used to have a guy who mend the taxi queue and nowhere to find him.
