Food after Buddha holiday

Why do you get sick or the runs after buddha holiday

I can explain that for you

On the special days for Buddha the family put out food for Buddha

It sits there out in the sun with being in the open and in the sun it goes "off".

Then after a couple of days, momma gives the food to the daughters who cook it up for their family.

Worse than that are that the ones with refrigeration, then over a few days afterwards they keep giving out this contaminated food refrigerated so it seems fine.

So you as a farlang husband of the child of momma get to get sicker and sicker.

Usually not so bad as to need hospital but you start to wonder if your water supply is contaminated.

Best thing I found is to designate all food from Momma to the dog. No dog then put it in the rubbish.

The amazing thing is your Thai wife partner can eat this contaminated food with only a slight issue.

Warning...look out for food after Buddha holidays.

Regards

Another one who needs a Thai culture course. Not really wise to eat the ghosts' food. Times have changed and nobody leaves food out there for monks anymore.

Her's the explanation from a befriended monk why not.

Some years ago, people left food at various places for monks. One day a monk ate food that was actually for a farmer and they had some issues.

From that time on, people have to give food/ drinks, etc into the monks' bowls, to make sure that the given food is for them.

Your story is quite insane and you might have some other very serious issues, muddy. wai2.gif

The OP does not appear to be talking about giving food to the monks.

He seems to be talking about offering food to the spirits.

^^^^^^^ exactly ..... and that spirit food, once placed on the spirit house, is NOT for human consumption.
