Vanishing Hard Drive Space

Featured Replies

My MacBookPro is getting long in the tooth and I noticed it's getting low on disk space.

I am sure I have collected years and years of junk.

What is the best way of finding out what directories have all the data in them so I can tidy up?

Thanks

Check the biggest culprit: the DOWNLOADS FOLDER. If you are not deleting stuff regularly from your downloads folder you can fill up your HD very quickly.

Also remove any superfluous or unused programs from apps folder.

Chuck stuff you don't listen to and use the "Show Duplicate Items" under the "View" menu.

You might also do a file search based on 'size', say > 1MB. You'll get a lot of returns, but it will show you what directories the files live in.
