Somboon Prodpai, 33, had provided police with information they hope will help them catch a dealer named Sith.

PHUKET: -- Police are hunting for a drug kingpin following the arrest of a Krabi man who was delivering 8,000 ya bah pills worth more than B800,000 to undercover police officers. The arrest was made at the Tesco Lotus on Chalermprakiet Rd on Friday (March 6).

Under the command of Phuket Police Chief, Maj Gen Pachara Boonyasit, narcotics police arrested Somboon Prodpai, 33, and seized four bundles of methamphetamines pills (ya bah) each containing 2,000 pills.

Meang police Deputy Superintendent, Col Prawait Aengchun revealed that Phuket narcotics police received a tip-off from undercover officers that a drug kingpin, known only as Sith, had contacted an undercover officer wanting to know if would sell drugs for him in Phuket.

Police arranged for the for the undercover officer to buy four bundles of pills from the dealer at a cost of B210,000 per bundle.

Sith arranged with the officer for the drugs to be delivered to the Phuket Tesco Lotus in Samkong on Friday, and at 3:30pm the dealer contacted the officer and told him to pick up the drugs at the car park of the Tesco Lotus.

Police waited and then spotted a man (Somboon) who appeared to be waiting for someone and was holding a plastic bag in his hand.

Once police were certain this was their man, they approached him, but Somboon tried to run away. Police managed to apprehended him.

After carrying out a search they found the bag Samboon was holding contained the 8,000 ya bah pills. Police seized the drugs and also Samboon̕s mobile phone.

Somboon told police that Sith had hired him to deliver the drugs and that he would be paid B50,000 after the drugs had been delivered.

Nice to see a relatively significant bust for a change. Let's hope the next big shipment of ya ice also gets intercepted. This speed epidemic needs to go away.

All they got was the courier , I fail to see a significant bust.
