Commerce Ministry helping farmers by promoting export of Thai goods

BANGKOK, 16 March 2015 (NNT)-The Ministry of Commerce is trying to increase the volume of agro-product export from Thailand as a way to help maintain their prices at a reasonable level.

According to Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Chutima Boonyaprapas, the ministry will meet with Thailand’s agro trading partners, particularly those in ASEAN to convince them to import goods from Thailand.

In addition, Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has also urged Japan to increase the order for farm products from Thailand, and asked the United Nations to see the importance of propping up their prices.

Countries that are already importers of Thai goods, for example China, will be encouraged to raise the export volumes. However,it is still important for Thailand to look for new markets elsewhere despite existing ones, said Ms. Chutima.

The Permanent Secretary further added that commodity prices have not increased so far except for ready to eat meals, Pork and eggs have become even cheaper, in fact. The Ministry of Commerce is also helping Thai families by selling affordable goods through the Blue Flag program.

The Ministry of Commerce will continue to monitor the prices of products and 250 items of necessity in particular after the integration of ASEAN countries has completed.

In the UK they are considered a necessity.

This is a new policy? That is exactly what a government is supposed to do for national agriculture that relies on international trade. Just like wheat in Canada, coffee in Columbia and poultry in USA.

The first Thai Ministry who actually found it's true calling,...ever.

I wonder if it was by accident?
