AMLO to impound 7 billion baht worth of assets of four companies

BANGKOK: -- The Anti-Money Laundering Office has decided to impound 192 items of assets worth about 7 billion baht belonging to four companies linked with associates of Klongchan Credit Union Cooperative’s former chairman who allegedly embezzled about 13 billion baht from the cooperative.

The assets to be impounded include 6.6 billion baht worth of shares of SW Holding Group, SW Phuket Group and SW Lanta Group and 500 million baht worth of shares of GLOW Development Company.

AMLO secretary-general Pol Col Sihanart Prayoonrat said Wednesday that AMLO also agreed to freeze 21 items of assets worth about 17 million baht belonging to associates of Pol Lt-Gen Pongpat Chayaphan, former commissioner of Central Investigation Bureau.

The assets include bank deposits and three condominium units which were suspected to be acquired illegally, he added.

In another case, AMLO has agreed to impound 24 items of assets worth about eight million baht belonging to two suspects, SongklodSriprasong and MsAmpornNoisamrith. The assets were suspected to be acquired with money embezzled from King Mongkut’s Institute o Technology Ladkrabang.

There will a lot of PO-ed Police generals in LOS. Price of bribes just went up to make up for loss. OUCH!!!!

Maybe you've answered your own question, they're not being impeded. But in actual fact AMLO has been very active "doing it's job" since it was established. Unless you know different, specifically, of course.

I don't begrudge a man for being rich if he's worked hard, invested wisely, and made good decisions and is successful in his business. But when he uses a position of authority to collect bribes or runs illegal enterprises to become wealthy, that's where this AMLO should jump down on those parasites and take EVERYTHING they've got. Consider every asset as illegally acquired.
