I have filter installed on my irrigation system.

The problem is that the accessory is not available, and I have to resort to use the regular blue pipe accessory. That way it is impossible to get it water tight at the connections regardless of how many teflon tape you use. I have used liquid gasket maker, but after only 1 day it is leaking at both ends already.

Any suggestions how to get it watertight?

What accessory are you taking about?

Is this a specialist manufacturers fitting that doesnt fit the "blue" manufacturers?

Ignorant question.....why are you filtering the water?

Are you mixing an imperial fitting with a metric fitting hence the copius amount of ptfe tape?

Just asking a few qwessies as it may give our other members some ideas.

The accessory are the 2 screw on parts you see in the picture.

I don't know exactly what causes the leakage, but the wire part from the filter is shorter than the wire part in the blue pipe connectors.

It may as well be different wire, however it seems to fit quite well, and even when screwed in only half way the parts seem to fit well together, so i assume it is the shortage of the wire.

Of course you need a filter on an irrigation system unless you want to clean the fliters on your pop up sprays frequently.

The first filter in this link is the filter I have, and has a 2" connection.

Use more tape, a lot more than you think, bury the visible thread, fold the tape and put it into the thread of the male, then add more tape.

Seriously I've had similar issues with the black plastic parts, we have exactly that filter, loose as a wh***'s dr***.

You may score using iron parts to mate with the filter, then PVC into the iron.

My biggest problem is that the whole thing is installed, which means that I will have to cut and redo the piping.

First I tried as you say to bury the thread with tape, but then the problem would be to get the female side on it in a straight way, which you actually only notice if it isn't when you're half way already.

In fact the male and female party aren't loose, even without tape. So I bought the gasket maker and spread it over the thread. It says that it can withstand a pressure of 500psi, I guess that are Chinese psi's.

I was considering the moldable epoxy sticks you can buy at homepro, which gets hard as rock after a few minutes and which states you can even use it under water, but if that fails the filter is ready to throw away.

Any opinions on that.
