Two Kuwaiti Nationals arrested in Koh Samui

KOH SAMUI: -- On Friday police in Koh Samui announced the arrest of Vezam Kamal Murad, 28 and Mohammad Yahya Murad, 37, from Kuwait. The men were in possession of two fake Turkish passports as well as stolen cash and goods including a 20,000 baht Rolex watch.

The two men had previously checked into a luxury Phuket hotel where it has been reported they approached a wealthy man from the Middle East. After gaining his trust the pair stole cash and valuables with a net worth of around one million baht. They then fled to Koh Samui.

While in Koh Samui they stole a credit card from a tourist which they use to withdraw 20,000 baht in cash, the victim of this crime reported the theft to the Bophut police station.

When local police in Koh Samui checked with the Kuwaiti embassy they discovered the men were wanted on arrest warrants issued in Bangkok and Pattaya.

The two men are also being held on charges of illegal entry to Thailand and using false travel documents. Their application to be released on bail has been opposed in the court.

In another report the wording was slightly different

...two fake Turkish passports, a Rolex watch, 20,000 baht cash and other stolen valuables worth more than 1 million baht.

Someone didn't do a good job transcribing (aka "lifting") the information from an earlier source.

Samui tends to attract a number of foreign criminals. Comes in third place after Pattaya and Phuket

The Koh Samui police didn't bother checking within the RTP (Bangkok/Pattaya/Phuket) as well? Suggests some dysfunction? whistling.gif

I hope the ones that sold them the fake Lolex get arrested as well.

No evidence that it was fake. The original report spoke of a Rolex AND Baht 20,000 in cash, NOT a Baht 20,000 Rolex.

Just arrest all Arabs on principal. None should be in Thailand. most of what they do and see is Haram.
