Cataract Procedure At Bangkok Pattaya Hospital?

Featured Replies

Greetings. Anyone with experience using Bangkok Pattaya Hospital for cataract procedures please advise the cost and of course any surprises.

We have been quoted 45000baht per eye inclusive of lens.

We don't have a real cost basis to compare to and as of now have not gotten a second opinion. One would think a second opinion is not realy required in this situation.? Either you can see well or you have the cataract which blurs your vision. I don't think this is something the Dr. would have confused or simply made up for financial reaons or some experiment. The hospital has a good reputation I think.

Thanks in advance. We're not looking for a bargain price as we have some wealth. At the same time, if the quoted price is out of line we want to know......Susan

I know three people who have had this done and they all said it was the best thing since sliced bread.

An *80+ years friend had it done at BHP and was very happy.

Thanks for your kind reply. So there is no confusion, I am refering to a cataract procedure not the supersight or lasik. I clarify only to make sure any price/quote information posted is in context. Gday. Susan

A friend of mine had his done at the Naval hospital at Sattahip for 15,000B with no problems.

I've had both eyes operated on at Yanhee Hospital, in Bangkok. Cost was 27,000 baht for each eye.

I had forgotten how bright the world is -- extremely happy with the results.

I think 45,000 baht per eye is a little high. Try some hospitals in Bangkok, or siracha.

The naval hospital in Satahip does not have up to date equipment.

Actually, 45,000 baht may be something of a standard -- or nearly so. I was quoted this price at both Bumrungrad and BNH. As I recall, Rutnin was slightly higher.

Some hospitals in Bangkok may be closer to Yanhee. I chose Yanhee because I had already been there a few times -- for other departments -- and had the impression that it was modern, clean, and reasonable. I was not disappointed.

I had mine done (both eyes) at Bunrungrad for 40,000 Baht/eye a few years ago. Quite satisfied.
