These guys seem to have them in stock whenever I visit: http://www.piyanas.com/?page_id=790

I bought mine from Piyanas.

Thanks, gave them a call and also out of stock and aren't sure if they will get anymore. They told me Oppo may not make anymore players.

They recommended I try Pioneer and told me picture quality was just as good if not better than Oppo, but its 10k thb more.

Anyone use Pioneer and is it worth it?

It's hard to imagine Oppo will be leaving the AV source market, seeing as how hard they've worked to carve out a name for themselves over the past 10 years or so.

Perhaps their new UHD Bluray range is close and the distributor doesn't want to be left with 1080P stock no-one wants? Perhaps the Thai distributor just wants to focus on smartphones?

I don't know if they have stock but several department stores used to have them. Paragon, Central etc. They are normally in the section with the Soken 'hifi' because I think they either have the same parent company or distributor.

I've checked both and no luck, they all told me same thing, not sure when/if will get anymore.

I even tried calling Oppo/Soken to see who still sells them and was told that they make not stock them anymore.

The BPD 103 model can be bought on eBay for $835 which includes the global shipping program costs that ensure its delivered to your door without any further import charges etc.

I have used ebay global shipping many times and although it's expensive it really works.

I guess the only thing is you would have to check if it's only coded for region 1 DVDs or whatever they use if they use anything.

I understood Oppo had the blu-ray audio ( SACD and Pure Audio ) formats to themselves until you get to exotic players that will make your nose bleed with their prices. I couldn't see them giving that up - probably Oppo is exporting to more profitable countries and demand exceeds manufacture.

i want one myself .

I had planned to get the oppo 103 model but just hadn't got around to making a trip to piyanas at fortune town. Now that I know they are out of stock and may not be getting any more, I just saw another global format one on EBay so I may just order from there as I don't mind paying the 200 odd dollars shipping and customs if I really have to.

Ok, so just went to Piyanas and they told me that Oppo is changing their distributor but don't when it will done. They will be getting more stock but it will probably take a while.

They recommend I look at the Pioneer LX58 which is basically the same as the Oppo 103 but 1,000 thb cheaper. They had a sample set up and I gotta say the picture quality and sound is pretty impressive and I ended up ordering this one instead.

It's quite easy to find mod chips for the Oppo so that it can play all regions of Blu-ray.

Myself I bought the Oppo 95 because the price was very good, it plays all movies with excellent quality, but it also has the ESS Sabre chip (9018 I think) set for the DAC which plays flac files very well also.

I have found local electrical fix-it shops to be surprisingly skilled at repairing most electrical devices and appliances.  I usually take any out of warranty item to one of these shops, from an old combo stereo tape deck/radio to a cheap DVD player to a washing machine, they have never failed me and always far cheaper that any manufacturer service center.  Easy to spot as there are usually a stack of old TVs and fridges in front.

Does anyone know a place that sells Oppo bluray players? I have asked a couple shops and it seems that they are all out of stock and not sure when they get them in.

Oppo stopped manufacturing them a few years back, with the latest model 203/205 Ultra BD players.

You can however find them second hand and very few new but old stock at eBay and in Thailand on Kaidee. I have several but not ready to part with them.

You can try these though (103/103D/105):

https://www.kaidee.com/product-357104057

https://www.kaidee.com/product-358226225

https://www.kaidee.com/product-358042114

This was from quick search on Kaidee. These are USED players so please read descriptions carefully before reaching out to sellers.

You wouldn’t happen to know how/where I can get my 105D converted to region free here in BKK would you?  I have many US music DVDs that unfortunately won’t play (even one purchased locally).  Thanks in advance!

Got my kit from eBay for the 103D. Never tried the 105D kit. That was a few years back and still works. Not sure they still sell it. Will try to find the link where I bought from.

This is the one I have - unlocks all BD zones and doesn't require any soldering.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/OPPO-DIGITAL-BDP-103-BDP-105-DARBEE-REGION-USB-HARDWARE-UPGRADE-USB-CABLE-KIT/121425458066

Wait - you can't play Zone A DVDs? All Oppo BD players are all zone for DVD. At least all of mine could play any DVD of any zone I threw at them - I'd know as I have many zone 1, 2 and 4 DVDs and it's local Zone 3 / A model. But I did take a look and saw this - seems straight forward - software is on DVD which you stick in the player and follow instructions - again, nothing to solder or anything:

Hope this helps.

Thanks!  Mine threw up a “wrong zone” notice on the screen when trying the copy of “The Wall” I picked up at fortune town yesterday after searching for it here for 2 years.  I’ll order the kit and if it works will have all my music dvds shipped over.  Thanks again...much appreciated!
