Electricity consumption in Thailand unaffected by temporary suspension of gas from Myanmar

BANGKOK, 13 April 2015 (NNT)- The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) has said electricity supply in Thailand has not been affected by the temporary suspension of natural gas delivery from Myanmar.

EGAT said Myanmar was scheduled to undergo annual pipeline maintenance in Zawtiak and Yadana on April 10th. The process would come to an end on April 27th.

The electricity consumption in Thailand remains unaffected since the natural gas stoppage has begun.

According to EGAT, its electricity production plants have been working smoothly and generating enough electricity for daily usage.

Last night, the electricity usage skyrocketed to 19,000 megawatts. However, the largest amount of electricity consumed so far this year was on April 7th, with around 27,000 megawatts used by the entire nation.

Despite a slight decline in the electricity usage during the Songkarn holidays, EGAT expects the consumption to rise again at the end of April.

The electricity usage usually peaks toward the end of April and stays relatively high until the first week of May every year.

EGAT is encouraging Thai people to lower their electricity consumption between 13.00 -15.00 pm. and 18.30 – 20.30 pm. to assure the nation's energy stability.

I guess they mean supply will be unaffected.

Mine goes off about every month or so, normally a mix of work or a fault.

On the whole they don't do bad.
