Golf for Kids in Bangkok?

My son is only five years old but he loves golf. Ive brought him to the range near Tesco in Rama 3 a few times and he can already hit the ball over 20 metres and up in the air. He can now also putt as we've been practicing on artificial grass in our house! I was wondering is there any small par 3 courses anywhere near the centre of Bangkok? If we were home in Ireland now I could start taking him to pitch and putt courses. There are hundreds of pitch and putt courses in Ireland with every hole below 70 metres. Are there any such courses here? Private lessons are too expensive for us. Even a driving range with a real putting green for putting and chipping would be great. The range in Tesco Rama 3 use to have a good putting green but they haven't bothered to maintain it.. Also, what age do kids start playing proper golf courses? Thanks....

Like yours my son loves golf too. He's 2 years 9 months and comes to the course with me. What I do is go after 2.30, when it's cheap green fee and golf cart (have to get the cart as 18 holes is a bit far for a 2 year old).

I drop the ball about 80 yards out from the holes and let him hit from there. Once on the green the caddie will give him his putter. His best so far is a 5! I drop the ball closer for the par 3's and further for the par 5's.

This is at a course in Rangsit, northern Bangkok.

I don't know of any par 3 courses in Bangkok. I have seen a 9 hole course at the racetrack. I think it's near the Silom BTS station.

You could also look at the Thailand Golf Association website. They do a lot with kids golf in Thailand.
