Bkk-hua Hin Transport (again..)

Featured Replies

Hi,

I know this topic has been up before but since things change I'd like to get updated...

Last time I went from Bangkok to Hua Hin I went by taxi. I'm coming back in december together with my mother (she has never visited Thailand before) and I know she'll be scared to death by the traffic...so I'd like to avoid going by car / bus.

So, does anybody know if any airline is flying from Bkk to Hua Hin? I think that is a better option. I know SGA has done it before - do they still? Has anyone done that trip and was it ok?

The last option is going by train - I suppose that take a looong time?

I'd appreciate your help. I really like my mom to love this country as much as I do :o

No flights that I know of ..... the train can be a nice trip! It is long though!

Me, my partner, our baby, my mum, my aunt and my cousin all got the train down from BKK to Hua Hin and it was quite nice actually, it's nice for anybody who hasn't been here before (or even if they have!)to watch the suburbs go by then they can watch all the countryside go by, I would recommend the train actually, if you can get up early enough you can get the train at 8.05am and arrives at 11.10am - not a long journey at all.

Except for the recent train accident down in the south the trains are pretty safe, I refuse to get on a bus for obvious reasons even though they are half the price of the train and I think if I was on my own I'd probably fly to cut out the time but for B350+ single the train is quite a good price.

Assuming they havnt gone bust...... :o

Wow ... Jan 2006 update on that website ... so much for MY current knowledge!

Aircraft: Cessna Grand Caravan (C-208B) 11 seat.

Someone who may take a fright on a bus could die on such a small plane.

Been on bigger than that (SAAB 340) and said never again.

Train 8am-11am, what's so long there?

By car it was taking me anything between 4 and 6 hours.

The plane with 1 hour leading and trailing time is 10 times more expensive and just a tad faster, door to door.

Thanks for your help!

Maybe, we should take the train anyway! The airplane service by SGA seems ok, but it's really a small aircraft...

If we go by train: Do we then take one train to Bkk (from the airport) and then another train from Bkk to Hua Hin?

Can I find the train-schedule Bkk-Hua Hin on the internet?

We will arrive in Bkk airport in the afternoon and hope to arrive to Hua Hin not to late at night.

I really wish we were going to Thailand NOW...still have to wait a few months..

Well, if you're arriving in December you should (theoretically) enter Thailand through the new airport; Suvarnabhumi. Check their web site for transport options to Hua Lamphong:

www.AirportSuvarnabhumi.com

As for the train timetables:

http://www.railway.co.th/English/Time_PDF.asp

has all the info you need.

Also, this site has useful information on train travel in Thailand:
