BANGKOK: -- Thailand is expected to clinch a new record on electricity consumption during April 23-25, according to the Energy Ministry.

Deputy Permanent Secretary for Energy Tawarat Sutabut said that the consumption is forecast to hit 27,500 megawatts during the period.

The current power peak record of 27,056.8MW was registered on April 7, 2015.

Meanwhile, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand revealed that the Kingdom’s electricity generating activities on April 15 were unaffected by the shutdown of Yadana and Zawtika gas fields in Myanmar.

The two gas fields are shut down during April 10-27 for maintenance.

Egat noted that all power plants in the West of the country are operating as usual despite the gas field shutdown.

It added that power consumption normally eases during the Songkran festival, but would peak around late April and early May. It urged all to cut down electricity use during 1pm-3pm and 6.30pm-8.30pm.

According to this page http://www.egat.co.th/en/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=80&Itemid=116 EGAT has 15,482 MW of power plants and purchases a further 19,207MW from various smaller producers, a total of 34,690 MW.

With consumption of 27,056 MW that's a headroom of 7,634MW (22%) should be more than enough.

That said :- Genset fuel tank full - check. Spare fuel cans full - check.
