Eviction Appeal Deadline is Quickly Approaching for Surin Beach Businesses

Featured Replies

The eviction appeal deadline for 39 beach businesses in Surin is quickly approaching. The eviction notices were handed down to business owners by the Cherng Talay Tambon Administration Organization (OrBorTor). Among the 39 businesses facing eviction are several iconic beach clubs, including Bimi Beach Club and Catch Beach Club.

The businesses have until Saturday to file an appeal to the Administrative Court. Officials from the Cherng Talay Tambon Administration Organization will be visiting Surin Beach on Monday to find out if the business owners have filed an appeal.

According to OrBorTor president Ma-ann Samran, the buildings that house the 39 businesses were never supposed to be rented to third parties. Samran stated that the organization “just wants the businesses gone”.

The initial eviction notices were given at the end of March, and business owners were given 15 days to appeal. After filing an appeal with the OrBorTor, the organization found that they didn’t have the authority to make a final decision on the matter. The business owners were told they would have to file their appeal with the court. The owners were granted an extension until April 18 to file their appeal.

If the business owners fail to file an appeal, they will be forced to move out of the buildings. There is no confirmation as to whether or not the buildings will be demolished.

I have never seen a beach in Surin unless you count a lakeshore as beach.

Iconic bars? What drivel.

Think Phuket... not Issan.

Not really, not Phuket related, and perhaps your Thai friend would prefer to remain anonymous.
