Injured trekker rescued from the jungle in Thung Yai

A seriously injured female tourist was plucked out of Thung Yai Naresuan wildlife sanctuary in Kanchanaburi along with her two companions by a police rescue helicopter and taken to the provincial hospital for medical treatment Friday evening.

Ms Wilailuck Kerdrin suffered a fractured back bone after a huge tree branch accidentally fell on her as her and six other companions were trekking in the pristine jungle to search for the source of a river on April 13.

Her two female companions, Ms Chutima Kraichit and Ms Suchita Petchma were slightly injured but they appeared exhausted from the jungle trip.

Ground rescue teams were sent to help Ms Wilailuck as she was immovable after the accident. The teams had to travel on foot because there are no road accesses to the spot.

Four men and three females joined the adventurous jungle trek. But the men insisted on trekking back to town with their guide and villagers.
