Dengue Fever In Hua Hin

Its advisable to take extreme caution, or avoid altogether, the southern part of Hua Hin, namely the villages Moo Bahn Khao Takiep and Moo Bahn Hua Dorn. At least three cases of Dengue fever occured amonst westerners in August alone, who were either permanent or holiday residents accommodated in a single soi behind KhaoTaiep, very near to where the fishing "pier" (pile of rocks) is. Fortunately after 6 to 7 days of hospitalization, all recovered. The mosquito responsible (probably Aedes aegypti) unfortunately bites during daylight hours, so all the night time precautions that folks take are useless in this case. Perhaps when the huge pool of stangnant water is drained in front of the Soi Bahn Thai Resort, then the problem will disappear.
