BANGKOK: -- Police have thoroughly examined a sedan which was left abandoned by the roadside in Phatthalung province to try to determine whether it linked with the car bomb blast at Central Festival mall in Samui or not.

The brown Honda Civic carrying license plate of Phatthalung kor jor 5849 was found parked on the roadside of Pa Bon-Nong Thong road in Na Bon district of Phatthalung since April 25.

It was found out that the licence plate was a fake and did not match with the registered number wor bor 9157.

Police in Phatthalung have coordinated with Koh Samui police to check the car again for clues which may link with the Samui bomb blast.

Hey, what happened to this high profile case? Just 10 days ago, the investigation was "80% complete", the miscreants were known, and the police/army were closing in.

Update anyone?

Looks like the usual publicity grab to show how on top of things the BIB supposedly are then it goes quiet for any of a host of reasons.

Officials were queuing up to get their tuppence worth in and alluding to all sorts of political motives but as usual are never called on to explain when it all goes quiet.. Thai journalism isn't big on follow ups and in the current atmosphere, as outlined by the PM in no uncertain terms, they are even more cautious than usual.

Police back to grasping at straws for suspects. What happened to the confessions and hard evidence? Maybe it was HARDLY evidence.
