Hello everyone. This is my second day (third night) in Bangkok. I'm absolutely loving it so far! Unfortunately I slept with ear plugs in the first night to block out noise and the next morning I couldn't hear very well out of my left ear. I've only used ear plugs once or twice in my whole life. Throughout the day my hearing gradually got better. Well, last night I didn't wear any ear plugs but when I woke up, I could barely hear a thing out of my ear. When I yawn I can't hear anything out of it. I called the Bangkok ENT center and the lady over the phone quoted me 3000 baht to get my ears cleaned! (If that's the problem.) Anywhere else around here I could get it done for cheaper? Thanks!

I suspect you are talking about the ENT center of Bangkok Hospital? This would be one of the most expensive places - all hospitals have ENT doctors and most would be less expensive. I have no idea how good but this was posted today in the Bangkok section http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/821261-excessive-ear-wax-bkk-clinic/?p=9354299#entry9354299

Sukhumvit Soi 22. Just past the Queen's Park Bars. On the same side of the road. Ear, Nose and Throat. They have the ear video and two big screens. 600 Baht.

600 baht? Wow, that's cheap! I'm currently staying at a hostel on Khao San road, know any that are any closer? Thanks!

Try the Mahesak Hospital, on the east side of Mahesak Road, just north of Silom Road. English-speaking doctors at Thai prices.

I got my ear checked out at BMA hospital on Luang Road . A cheap taxi ride from Khao San Road 60-70 baht. Not impossible to walk if you knew the way. Maybe 1 miles as the crow flies.

I thought i had something in my ear . From walking in off the street, registering and waiting to be seen was about 35 minutes. It cost 50 baht. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They only checked my ear and it was ok but i doubt it will cost 1000's of baht to clean your ear at that hospital.

Awesome! Thanks for the helpful info! Did the staff speak good English? What about the DR? Thanks!

Apparently BMA is shut down..

I just called them and they kept putting different people on the phone. I tried asking them how late the ENT speacialists stayed for and they couldn't give me an answer. Do you have any idea? Thanks!

Sorry, I don't know, and I no longer live in Bangkok. I am not surprised that the support staff there speak little or no English. If you want English speaking support staff,..., .....Well, you already have an idea of what that will cost you. Go in there in person; they can probably cure your problem for a few hundred baht.

Why do you need to go to a hospital? Any competent doctor or clinic can check and syringe your ears if necessary. Cost, probably no more than 200 baht.

I am hard of hearing and wear hearing aids and my ears, even though I use cotton buds to clean them, need a proper clean out sometimes.

I live in Chaiyaphum and Nong Bua Lamphu, (couple of weeks here, couple of weeks there). I get my ears cleaned every 4 weeks at the local barber shop when getting my haircut. They do a very good job of it without causing any discomfort. Haircut and ear clean, ฿150.

No way I'd let anyone other than a medical professional poke around inside my ears. Considering you already use hearing aids I'm surprised you'd risk whatever hearing you still have.

Saint Louis Hospital http://www.saintlouis.or.th/

Unfortunately they have just revised their website and not yet in English, but if you call and persevere you'll get an English speaker. It is a private hospital but not for profit and much less expensive than Bangkok Hospital.

Near Surasek stop on the BTS (Silom line).

Closer to Kao San but more expensive (though still probably less than Bkk Hospital) is Mission Hospital http://www.mission-hospital.org/index.php/medical-services/ent-clinic.html

I went in November last year. I have not heard it closed down since. Just go during the day time in a taxi. The doctor who looked at my ear spoke english as do some of the nurses. They will never sort your ear out over the phone.

I searched for Klang Hospital online and Google had listed that it was permanately closed. I'm not sure. I ended up going to Mission Hospital near Khao San road. It ended up only being excess earwax pushed far into my ear (thank goodness), and they only charged me 600 baht. Much better than the 3000 Bangkok Hospital was quoting me!

I'm not sure it's correct that the BMA's Klang Hospital is closed.

Klang Hospital appears to have a still functioning website

I just got my ear cleansed for 300 baht at the Loma clinic (a few doors up from Bon Cafe in Naclua). They performed the standard "ear irrigation" procedure.

I was in and out in 10 minutes.

My ear had become completely blocked from wax build up.

I was quoted 2000 baht at Pattaya International hospital.
