Pheu Thai considers 'tempting' offer for talks

Small plane crashes into busy Atlanta highway; 4 killed

Pattaya, Chon Buri:- An air-conditioner mechanic sneaked into a luxurious house of a farang’s Thai wife in Pattaya Friday and could not help helping himself to several bottles of luxurious foreign brand liquors. He eventually fell asleep and woke up being arrested.

Pattaya, Chon Buri:- An unidentified farang, his Thai girl friend and another Thai were injured when the farang’s motorcycle fell into a “dangerous hole” on the Second Pattaya Road before it hit another motorcycle early Saturday, police said.

PATTAYA:--A 43 year old man was arrested on Friday Morning only meters away from Pattaya Police Station following a knife fight with a deckchair operator, which occurred moments after he was released by Pattaya Police following an earlier knife incident with a foreign tourist.

ISOC inspects One Stop Service center for alien labour registration in Samut Prakan

SAMUT PRAKAN, 9 May 2015 (NNT) - Colonel Tub Uthitsan, Director of the Planning and Coordinating Center of the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) visited the one stop service center for alien labor registration in Samut Prakan Province.

He said the center was kicked off on April 1 and would finish its mission on June 30. The center is aimed at registering and extending work permits for foreign workers who are in great number in the province, which is home to a large number of fishery activities.

Most of the alien workers in Samut Prakan are Burmese, Lao, and Cambodian. A total of 84,901 foreign workers registered with the one stop service center last year.

Col. Tub indicated that since the beginning of this year, about 22,000 alien workers and their dependants had registered in the province, with 334 of them being in the fishery sector. He attributed the lower number of workers registering to their returning home since Songkran.

A disaster prevention and mitigation center opens in Chainat

CHAINAT, 9 May 2015 (NNT) - A Disaster Prevention and Mitigation center was officially opened in Sapphaya District of Chainat yesterday, as the province steps up measures to deal with droughts, floods, storms and fire.

The center is expected to help the community make proper preparations against various disasters in order to prevent the loss of assets and lives, in accordance with the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation’s policies.

The disaster prevention and mitigation center in Sapphaya District will serve as a stage for the members of the community to exchange ideas and lay down effective plans to handle and prevent public disasters.

Fishermen voice their plights from tough action

BANGKOK: -- As the European Union (EU) is sending a team of its officials to Thailand to inspect the country's progress in complying with international fisheries law after yellow carding the country, the Thai Overseas Fisheries Association (TOFA) yesterday called a meeting with all its members in Samut Sakhon province to raise the problems and plight of the fishermen after Thai authorities started to tighten grip on the fishing boats in an effort to stamp out illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
