Vatican recognizes state of Palestine in new treaty

The repetition of a myth does not make it a fact. The Nazis never achieved a majority but attained power through a series of backroom deals that stripped the socialists and communists of their democratic rights. At the time, there was more opposition to the Nazis than there was support for them. The illegitimate Enabling Act of 1933 a short time after the election allowed Hitler to become dictator. The law could not be properly contested because opponents were blocked from doing so by violence and intimidation. The brown shirts were very good at murdering opponents. Shortly after the imposition of the Enabling Act. opposition parties were banned and the Reichstag dissolved.

Please study your own history. Many Germans were opposed to the Nazis and they paid the price. The same can be said for the Vatican's position. Many members of the Church do not support it. However, the Church hierarchy will use the same tools as it used against those who spoke out against corruption and sexual abuse by the Church, to silence critics. It's wonderful to be a leader who is declared infallible.

The Boycott, Sanctions and Divestment movement is beginning, it's not ending anytime soon.

How long did it take the South African resistance to bring about the needed changes to the apartheid regime?

Excellent points. thumbsup.gif

The BDS movement is increasingly effective on university and high school campuses across the US. The demographic tide has turned on this issue, with even young Evangelicals openly questioning the immoral practices of the Israeli regime.

Take the topic of the thread: Even the Catholic Church has now publicly recognized the Palestine state.

But the people who have their heads buried so deep in the sand are unable to see the change that is happening.

By the way, these are the same people who said that Palestine would never get UNESCO status.

These are the same people who said Palestine would never have UN observer state status.

These are the same people who said Palestine would never be able to take claim to the ICC.

These are the same people who said Palestine would never be recognized by EU states.

These people are the best contrarian indicators on Middle East affairs. If they say it will never happen, you can bet that it will. laugh.png

The Vatican is the only place I've ever been where I absolutely got the creeps for no reason that I could identify. Perhaps I felt the centuries of evil including the creepy pedophilia which was imposed on so many. I stepped into a distant land from a long time ago and my skin crawled. I can see why it's a separate country. There's nothing else like it. To me St. Peter's Basilica was just old and creepy and nothing beautiful at all yet I guess it's supposed to be one of the most famous "churches" there is.

Even the Sistine Chapel with the ceiling paintings by Michelangelo is creepy. It is the chapel of the Apostolic Palace which is the residence of the Pope. What a creepy bunch of people, and who gives a damn what they think.

Vatican officially recognizes Palestine, while Israel fumes

http://rt.com/news/258297-vatican-palestine-state-recognize/

1.2 billion Roman Catholics give a damn....almost a quarter of the world's population.

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-21443313

Let's hope the Pope's recognition of Palestine gets a mention in next week's sermon.

1.2 billion do not seem to mind priests raping boys, but is that off topic I wonder?

Do you have any link indicating 1.2 billion dont seem to mind?

Thought not.

Not only off topic but not even in the same universe.

But they are not the same thing. There you go again pushing the lie that Israel is a "white" colonial movement as was South Africa. Jews (historically for the most part certainly not considered "white" in the diaspora) are indigenous to Israel! The movement against the white South Africans was against racism against the non-whites there. The anti-Israel BDS movement is actually actively racist against Jews all over the world. In practice, anything "Jewish" from any country is being shunned by these obsessive Judeophobes. Don't buy "Jewish" goods? What does that remind you of?

Don't believe the BDS movement is racist against Jews? Think again.

Now Feldman is either in denial or he has not experienced BDS at close quarters. Does he realise that in July and August 2014, shops, banks, universities, theatres and entire towns in Britain were targeted by a contingent of BDS activists comprising jihadi Islamists, anarchists, local gangsters and Socialist Worker Party members?

For example, in Manchester, which is home to Europe’s fastest-growing Jewish community, an Anglo-Israeli cosmetic shops was subject to a daily boycott that lasted for six weeks. I lost count of the times that I heard comments such as “Jews killed Jesus” and “You have blood on your hands.” A number of BDS activists were captured on camera expressing their admiration for Hitler or making Nazi salutes. Jews (including elderly men and women) were threatened and intimidated. Anti-Semitic leaflets were handed out to members of the public.

Anyone who has witnessed BDS in action will be in no doubt that it is anti-Semitic. But there is a case to be made that BDS is not just anti-Semitic, it is racist. Why? Because it singles out a nationality – Israelis – for differential and discriminatory treatment in the international arena. Israelis are expected to conform to an impossibly high moral standard that would endanger their well-being. When Israelis inevitably fall short of these impossible standards, they are accused of indefensible behaviour. In contrast, the Palestinian Arabs are not held up to any standard at all. That too is racist.

More lies wishful thinking. Boycotts of Israel have been ongoing in the Middle East since 1945 - 3 years before Israel even declared independence - when the Council of the Arab League called for an economic boycott against the Jews of Mandatory Palestine. THEY HAVE FAILED and Israel's economy gets stronger and stronger.

You keep repeating the fallacy of Israels economy keeps getting stronger. Why does it then accept money from the US?

Posted

Lots of countries take money from the US, including China and their economy is thriving.

Israel ranks 19th among 187 nations on the UN's Human Development Index, which places it in the category of "Very Highly Developed". Your hatred does not change the facts.

The major industrial sectors include high-technology products, metal products, electronic and biomedical equipment, agricultural products, processed foods, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and transport equipment; the Israeli diamond industry is one of the world's centers for diamond cutting and polishing.

The world is steadily turning against Israel due to its treatment of the Palestinian people.

That is not fantasy.

Israel is not clean as the driven snow, but it doesn't mistreat Palestinians. Some Palestinians reside in Israel and are treated like other citizens. If there's bad treatment of Palestinians by Israelis, it's the Israeli responses to attacks on their people and country. A country has a right to protect itself and its people. Israeli military have only attacked Palestinians in response to being attacked or threatened by them. Note: during the wars of the late 20th Century, when Israel was being attacked by Syria and Egypt, did Israel use that as an excuse to attack Palestinians (who were rooting mightily for the Arabs)? No. One side exerts restraint, the other side goads with bombs and saber-rattling. I'll let you guess which side does which.

By the way, the His Holiness has been invited to speak before the US Congress later this year. I don't imagine he will broach the subject of the repeated Israeli atrocities against the Palestinians, but it would be great if he did.

And what unprovoked 'atrocities' are those? The Pope's house isn't so clean itself, is it?

Vatican is a bunch of hypocrites who throughout centuries murdered people, unless you forgetting the crusades and the rest.

In the modern times, Vatican produced more pedo's than they could fit in,and none of them have been severely punished.

And to top it up, considering religious persecutions on Gaza and Westbank of non Muslims, Vatican is not bothered at all.

There are many apparently intractable international issues in the world. Israel Palestine is not one of them. The framework for a peaceful solution has been established for at least 30 years and is broadly accepted by most members of the international community of nations, except for two radical and increasingly diplomatically isolated outliers. Israel, and its facilitator and co-dependent, USA.
