BANGKOK: -- A real estate broker in Pattaya was arrested Friday by police on charge of being a member of Ufun Store’s pyramid scheme.

Ms Alisa Chotithanachai, 31, was apprehended by police at her residence in Tambon Bang Lamung in Chon Buri.

Pol Maj-Gen Suwira Songmetta, the assistant national police chief, who led the police raid, said that Ms Alisa was a member of the Ufun’s second-tier network.

He added that investigation of money trail of Ufun showed that a total of 2.6 million baht in deposits were transferred into her bank account through 111 transfers and 2.9 million baht were withdrawn from the same account through 260 withdrawals.

Pol Maj-Gen Suwira further said that the arrest of Ms Alisa could produce some valuable information which would lead to the exposure of more suspects.

Ms Alisa, however, defended that she was approached by a man identified only as Mr Tong last October to invest in Ufun. After that, she said she also persuaded 30 other people to invest in the company and was rewarded 8 percent commission based on the amount of the investments.

She admitted that she earned about 200,000 baht in commission.

its ok, I conned others to buy into a criminal deal so I could make a profit from them, strange, what was all the money doing going in and out of her account maybe she needs to understand that depositing 2.6 million and removing 2.9 million is not making 200,000 profit but then this is Thailand and we all know what their schooling is like

2,6 million in,

2,9 million out -

makes a nice profit of 200.000,- thb ;
