Kanchanaburi provincial administration in cooperation with officials of the National Parks, Wildlife and Plants Conservation Department, Forest Department, police and military personnel on Friday launched an operation to reclaim over 7,000 rai of rubber plantations from encroachers.

The operation was preside over by Mr Wanchai O-sukhonthip, the provincial governor. The targeted rubber plantations are concentrated in KhaoLaem national park in SangkhlaBuri district.

It was reported that several rubber plantations in Kanchanaburi were more than ten years old. Once the rubber plantations were seized, about 60 percent of the rubber trees will be chopped down.

Mr Supote Kulprayong, chief of the forest protection and fire control unit, said that his set target was 600 rai in Wang Yai and Mae Nam Noi forest reserves in Sai Yok district.

Illegal rubber plantations in state-owned property have been the main target of the government in its attempt to wrestle the land from encroachers.

Where were all those police when the British girl got raped? I've LIVED in Kanchanaburi, half that number could successfully police the entire area.

The military is mobilizing much better when it come to encroahment of national forest land than it has with detecting rohingya illegal immigrants.

Maybe this is because Thai people are much easier targets and less lucrative if ignored.
