There is a group of foreigners that usually meet up for golf, I believe on Thursday mornings.

Maybe somebody reads this forum and can give some more information on this....otherwise I can get some more details in the next couple of days.

There is a group of Farangs, all nationalities, that meet every Tuesday and Thursday. Tuesdays are mainly at the Warin Army Post, Suppasit Prasong Golf Course. GPS 15*12'09.00"N by 104*52'11.75"E. Tee Off time is generally 06:30 am. Normally there are between 4-10 hackers. Sometime more. Just show up and introduce yourself. Thursdays are for either Warin Army Camp or the on the Ubon Royal Thai Air Force base in Ubon, GPS 15*15'15.32N by 104*51'42.80"E. Tee Off times are the same for both. As you enter either base, if the guard doesn't wave you through, just tell them you are going to play golf. Most of the time Warin will wave you through because the course is to the left as you enter the gate. The see a farang, they know where he is going. The Air Base is a little different. You have to travel a little distance from the gate to get to the course. Warin is a nine hole course. Greens are decent, fairways suck. Its like you are playing in the rough the whole round. The Air Base is 18 hole. Back nine is relatively new. Their green are decent and the fairways suck also. Green fees, Warin, including caddy is 260 baht for nine hole. Caddy tip runs around 130-150 baht. Carts are 200baht. The air base loves their course. Green fees are about 340 baht. For 18 holes, add 100 baht extra caddie fee, Tip is about the same as Warin. Carts are 450 baht for nine or 18 holes.

Warin, you can pretty much make it around with the same ball. Some water comes into play and may suck up a ball. The air base is another story. Lots of water, and many hazards. Bring a bag of balls if you are a hacker. For us hackers, these are good courses to hone our skills.
