Pattaya Floods Again....govt Too Busy W/ Plans Kicking Out Foreigners

This is a land in which foreigners need all sorts of special documentation to reside. A land where govt is more concerned about perpetual tourists than public health.

If you really want to see what Thai gov thinks of tourists, follow the link - - >> 50+ more pictures of the continued lack of public maintenance in Pattya.

I really think you are mixing apples and oranges. I don't think the gov't effort to limit visas is the affecting their ability to stop flooding!

Unless, of course, it's now the Department of Immigration and Flood control!

If you think a little bit harder like Thai government officials have to do every day, you can see how this flooding is caused.

You see if there were no farangs, there would not be any roads to be flooded in the first place.

But now that the roads are here and all the sewers get filled with all that rubber that has been flushed through all those western toilets.

Thai don't use rubbers so you see, if there were no farangs even with roads and sewers there would be no flooding.

To solve this and all other problems you have to go to the source, and that is the back to back tourist visa.

Makes sense now?

No!

Then you are not long enough in Thailand yet.

Great pics! Thanks for posting them.

and they need better leadership :o

I agree the pics were great!....

Looks much worse than we received just up here, but then again... we don't have nearly as many farang...

ahhhh... so there IS a connection between flooding and farangs.

It certainly is a public health issue... and I fully understand your disgruntlement with the government's priorities.

Pattaya City Coucil have just contracted a company called N Y T Far East to carry out a major drain cleaning campaign. This has not been done for over 10 years.

This event happens all over Thailand during the monsoon season, regardless of how clean the storm drains are. A really prolonged downpour will quickly flood anywhere….Just one of the pleasures of living in paradise :o

I'm always impressed by the cheerful and don't-let-it-get-you-down attitude of the people during flooding in Pattaya - a bit different from the media-driven doom and gloom here.

In defense of the Pattaya city officials, their reasoning is that no work can be done while the streets are flooded and no work needs to be done when they are NOT flooded.

Now please offer your apologies for doubting our leaders.

I got a roof like that, when it's raining it's too wet to get out there and fix, and when it's not raining it don't leak :o

I think doom and gloom attitude is justified on grounds that ground is hard to find and a major health hazards.

I was down Soi Kao Noi I think it is called yesterday, 50% of the Road in one area had gone, and badly undercut the remaining road. Sad state of affairs!
