Ranong launches border trade expo to promote economy

RANONG, 4 July 2015 (NNT) – In a new move to promote the local economy, the southern province of Ranong is holding a border trade expo showcasing selected products within the country and from neighbouring Myanmar.

Ranong governor Suriyan Kanchanasilp who chaired the fair’s opening ceremony revealed the activity was held in line with the government’s policy to boost local economy and tourism.

Over 40 top selected small and medium business operators are putting their best-known products up for sale at special prices. The fair was met with an overwhelming welcome from Thai and Burmese shoppers and businessmen.

Organizers expect the trade show to give local people the opportunity to buy quality but inexpensive goods sold directly by producers and to enable Thai operators to form business alliance with Burmese counterparts.

Ranong border trade expo is taking place between July 3 and 9 at the gymnasium of Kaper District Administrative Organization.
