Man attacked outside of South Pattaya Karaoke Bar



PATTAYA: -- In the early hours of Monday a 29 year old man, who had encountered an earlier problem inside a Karaoke Bar in South Pattaya, was badly assaulted outside of the bar.

Police and medics were called to the front of the Smirnoff Karaoke & Pub in Soi Bongkot and attended to Khun Sampan, who had sustained a suspected head injury and also sustained cuts and bruises to his upper body, consistent with being kicked and punched.

I have a theory that Karaoke and Muay Thai signs must be easily confused in Thailand.

It seems Karaoke is a full contact sport.

Unless like me other patrons are just appalled with the standards of singing and demonstrate their frustrations with full ardor.

I used to have a room in a mansion next to a late night Karaoke. If you had heard 'My Way', murdered several times a night, you'd feel like strangling the singer !!!

By no means unique to Pattaya, or have you not seen the videos posted on a regular basis of the Bangkok students and their almost daily melee's?

Yeah, what is up with the angry locals in this town? What is their problem ? Too much bad speed ?

And please spare any of the " it happens everywhere " line.

Many Karaoke bars are merely a front for underage prostitution and illegal drugs...when you enter this environment the chances of an altercation are increased immensely...

What is interesting...generally speaking...it appears to me that with the number of tourists in decline compared to previous years...the type A Thai alpha males must turn on each other to show their expressions of "Thainess"...

It is a win-win situation...IMHO

These types of attacks happen all over the world, and suggesting it as an "only in Thailand" or "this is Thailand" incident is Thai bashing.

Back in Australia where I used to live, I can think of 2 similar incidents where drunk patrons were killed.

The incident in the OP should be attributed to drugs and alcohol, not Thailand.
