As a registered company, you can import goods if you are fist registered with Thai customs' "paperless" system.

Some goods need import licences. What do you mean by "consumer goods"? Foodstuff needs an import licence from the FDA, alcoholic beverages need one from the Excise Department, etc. Kindly be more specific what you intend to import.

Furniture is no problem, but you have to check the kind of wood they are made from. Some wood species are protected (teak comes to mind), but Bali usually exports rattan.

For both countries, you should ensure that the exporter can issue the appropriate Certificate of Origin, so that you can save the import duties. For goods from China is would be the Form E, from Indonesia Form D. Make sure that they confirm these particular forms, as you do not get tax reductions if there is any other kind.

By consumer goods i mean, salt and peppermills with battery and some food presentation /decoration things.

Thanks already,

Arno

Decoration items in general are no problem, but of course there are exceptions.

Items that come in contact with food might need an import permit. Depends on details, such as material. Items that use electricity might need import permits form TISI, depending on the details.

hi Arno,

If you still looking into how to import, I can share my import agent to you which I have been using for many years.

FAST + Good service and low price compared to so called 'big company' in the market.

fyi, they offer door to door service, so it is easy for farang like us. nothing to headache about transportation.
