Just got back from the motor show where I had the advantage of viewing all the new MPV and other cars under one roof.

Came to the conclusion that the MUX is a non starter due to not enough things S/N Cruse etc.

Mitsu is only the price it is because it's cheap and cheerful. Fitments seats are at best rubbish what anyone would feel like after a long run having to sit on them Buddha only knows.

Not forgetting the plastic shiny look ok at first viewing but a quick tap and well you give it a try dash and door trims. Example they had taken the ashtray out and what was there well a gaping hole that you could see the gearbox through. Lots more on fitments but cant be bothered to put in. Wasn't interested once I sat in it.

Ford seems the best of a bad bunch lacks in some parts due to no S/Nav + their after sales service well built good seats strong trim.

Toyota I was very disappointed with, again well built tough as old boots like all Toyotas but the lack of disc's on the rear albeit the latest one has bigger drums, it also now has 18 wheels so after market's can be fitted cost some 45,000bt though. No crappy shinny plastic on either of the two above.

Conclusion would I change my 6 year old Spivo for any of the new ones in a word NO.

I might reconsider if they bought out a new TRD Sportivo with a 3.2 motor.

Motor show at Bitec was pretty good if your local, unlike me who took 5+ hour to get there. Due to traffic. The 100bt entrance fee complete with magazine good value but the crowning glory was the what seemed like thousands of very nice display ladies. Anyone know of a good divorce lawyer!!!

Anyone remember those 1800 cc engines in Ford pickups years ago. They were rather nippy compared to the new 3000 cc we have here today.

They if your referring to ones I drove were rather nippy but ran out of steam at about 70mph not forgetting the noise/clatter they made. Sorry to say they don't compare with what the 3lt ones do now.

Suggest you give the new ones a try and see how quiet they are.

Fiesta /Escort 1800 cc did 100 mph +, and the Mondeo clonker was well loved by many folks in Europe.

Fred looks like I will head the same direction as yourself. My PS is now over 5 years old and never had an issue, the Ford would be high on my list but I am reluctant to part with my PS for the crap coin I will receive.

No need for me to make a SUV purchase based on a higher spec engine when I have my 2.0l diesel car when some zip is required.

Regards facts your comment about Essex "Buys" Boys correct spelling, by the way drive small crappy cars with go faster stripes and ditto exhausts.

Hertfordshire lads drive the Limos that fit the occasion just a bit of trivia.

Think your right regards what we would get for a 5/6ish year old lump. Sorry to say I was very disappointed with what was on offer. I will give one or two a go drive wise when their available, but I don't think it'll change my mind.

There must be some very good limos about soon second hand better to get one of those than plumb for a new one at over 1.5 Mil. The Kia also looked good but at nearly 1.7 Mil over the top price wise. Import duty???

So it'll have to be well for me anyway my already sorted without a mark on it Spivo.

Unlike you I'm not going down the BMW route.

For your information I am over 65, more than likely it's that I only resemble mid twenty's looks wise, Bummer at best sometimes.

My Thai licence says that I am 10 years younger, they wont change it. If only A.

Eh? The diesel Mondeo was born in Europe - in fact, it's the 'donor car' that supplied the Ranger/Everest's 2.2L diesel engine.

The new generation Mondeo is now offered with uprated 1.5L, 1.6L and 2.0L diesels though - the latter of which has twin turbos and produces 210HP.

I stand corrected I thought that AOP was referring to the tuna like normal. Big slap on the wrist, mustn't put in posts when one has had a few pints.

I suppose one does turn to Drink after leaving Gods County doesn't one to live in a poor smelly area and no money for a New Limo or even the nice New Mitsu Limo, doesnt One. Im orrrff for a Royal Wee, Tally Ho ... Try a bit of Humor no one cares.cheesy.gifgigglem.gif

Having done a fair bit of research and read the thoughts of the esteemed posters on TV, it seems the Everest is in a league of its own for locally made SUVs - nothing else comes close.

Some have concerns regarding Ford's service, but why anyone would buy an inferior vehicle for a small issue like that is beyond me.

I'd better start saving...

The PJS 2WD GT has got only 2 airbags. There is a reversing camera, Front Collision Avoiding system and the passenger seat is electrically adjustable. The blind spot alert is missed in 2WD versions.

Uhm small issue?!

There are alot articles in Thai papers of Thais who bought Fords and when they stopped working were basically told nothing can be done. The Fiesta is the most recent example where a Ford rep actually said, "-What do you expect when you bought the cheapest model?"

If you actually think that Ford TH have that kind of customer service policy, and that's not just the retort of an unprofessional dealer employee, then yes, avoid Ford at all costs.

As have there been articles and news reports on other car manufacturers as well as other big companies in Thailand (AIA, True & CP off the top of my head). This isn't a Ford issue it's a Thai issue.

People who've been reading these forums for a while would have seen some of my stories... I've had terrible experiences with them all.. If you asked me to recommend a brand where you'll never be disenchanted with their after sales service, I wouldn't be able to answer the question.

Well saying it's a "thai" issue is kinda unfair. More likely it's Ford management that are not as hands on as they should be in Thailand. Look at Toyota. They're all nazi with very strict guidelines, policies, hands on management and rigorous staff training and they are miles ahead of everyone else when it comes to service.

All I can say is in 14 years of living here I have never once met a person Thai or foreigner who were 100% satisfied with their Ford. In the same years I heard maybe 2 or 3 people complain about Toyota.

Toyota are not immune to idiot employees, or denial of design flaws. None are perfect, some maybe better than others though smile.png

I know of several people completely happy with their Fords - one friend drives a 10yo V6 Escape and has absolutely zero mechanical sympathy, a few staff have Fiesta's a couple have Rangers. The only horror stories I've heard about Ford have been online, not in the real world........ yet... ;)

I have had my Ranger for 4 years - I am very very happy with my choice.

Was it Toyota that was on the news when the very unhappy purchaser smashed it up in front of one of their showrooms? It may well have been another make, but Toyota rings a bell.

I think all makes have been the target of the "Sledgehammer media stunt" at some time or another ;)

My BIL just contacted me about how to escalate his complaint about his 3.5 yo VIOS that has paint fading and even peeling off in places - I explained to him that never washing a car amounts to owner abuse, not manufacturing defect. He's not buying it though - maybe his is next? :P

Being happy with your choice does not mean you can spew non-sense on forums. Yes Ford is amazing, yet the odds are you will be in complete utter shit if you buy one in Thailand.

Yeah, well, I guess I've somehow, by miracle, beaten your odds, because I'm on my second Ford in Thailand, and both have been excellent, no problems or issues.

Again this is complete nonsense. ÉLots of people smoke 60 years and develop no cancer. Most die early from it though.

OK, so how many Thai Ford owners do you personally know, that have service issues? (people using the internet as a soap box don't count)
