Rate for withdrawing cash from US ATM with K-Bank card?

Recommended Posts

My question isn't about the one-time fee per transaction (which I assume is around 6 bucks). What I'm wondering is whether the conversion rate for withdrawing from a VISA/PLUS ATM with my K-Bank ATM card is at the standard global rate (35/1) or whether it's high (around 40/1) as it is at private currency exchange booths in the States.

Anyone know?

I assume you are referring to USD? If anything it would be lower than 35:1. In my experience, the rate will be very close to what is actual exchange rate for the day. I am sure you can look at the website somewhere to confirm. When I have been in foreign countries and used me K-Bank ATM card, including USA, I don't ever feel like I have gotten ripped off. On the other hand, Bank of America charges me a fortune to withdrawal money here from an ATM.

Couldn't edit my previous post. Just read your title where it clearly states USD. I was in Lake Tahoe over the 4th of July this year and used my K-bank ATM twice. I tried to calculate the exchange rate, but with unknown ATM fees (at the casino) I couldnt get an accurate number. I am pretty sure they use an exhchange rate very close to what is published for that day. One thing I can tell you is that they did not charge me any international transaction fee

Having lived in Nevada, I would never use an ATM in a casino. Many of the so-called ATM's will add a $24.99 fee onto your credit card for a $50 withdrawal. Read the fine print in a casino very carefully. July 4th? So you got to see some snow & hail?

Yes you are correct the rates for a credit card are quite high. I used a Debit card, which is what the OP was referring to. My point is that I don't know if it was 3.99 or 5.99 withdrawal fee and that could greatly change my calculation for the exchange rate.

It rained, but no snow or hail at lake level.
