Jatuporn: Talks about stripping Thaksin of police rank just a distraction

8-10-2015-7-45-50-PM-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- Red-shirt movement leader Jatuporn Promphan said Monday that the remarks made by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha and others that the government would proceed with stripping former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra of his police rank were just a ploy to distract public attention from the negative news affecting the government.

Talks about stripping Thaksin of his police rank dated back to 2006 when he was ousted in a bloodless coup and no action has been taken ever since, said the leader of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship.

He noted that the police rank has no effect whatsoever on Thaksin because the latter quitted government service before entering politics.

The fact that Thaksin retain the police rank, a lieutenant colonel, before his name is intended to keep him reminded of His Majesty the King’s kindness for bestowing him the rank, said Jatuporn.

Jatuporn talking sense!

Getting him to sound reasonable and sensible has to rank as a significant achievement!

"The fact that Thaksin retain the police rank, a lieutenant colonel, before his name is intended to keep him reminded of His Majesty the King’s kindness for bestowing him the rank, said Jatuporn."

What a load of poppy cocks... Mr. T has no respect to anyone beside himself and himself only, it is an open secrete

that he fancied himself as the absolute ruler of this country by seating on HM throne at the Emerald Buddha temple

a while back..... so spare us the penny wisdoms defending your cash cow and master....

Thaksin is 66 yeard old. What is the meaning to have or do not have the rank for a retired man? Would he work at catch burglars or Watch the trafic jams?

I admit there may be more pressing issues for the Govt to tackle, but sniping at Thaksin does get the crowd baying.

It unfortunate that whenever one of the old guard open their mouths there are some 'off topic' grains of truth which unintentionally spill out.

In this case, the message isn't the police rank should remain, because of illegal this and unconstitutional that and undemocratic other blah, blah, blah.

The real takeaway from this is the uncontested acceptance that Mr T has been convicted of a crime and is being stripped of official recognition, finally even the most fervent supporters accept that this will happen.

Which is good. Its the kind of ignominy that cements the understanding of loss in the hearts and minds of his supporters.

If it is a matter of such small concern, why is Thaksin's paid propagandist bothering to raise it?

Why is it such a big deal to you as well Halloween? Seems to me you like to comment on this subject more than what Juttaporn has done, Will it make you sleep better at night? You're obsessed with Thaksin, as much as Prayuth is.

^^^^ post #7, and there we have the classic TVF approach. What is important is to heap ignominy and " cement the understanding of loss in the hearts and minds of his supporters"

Next he will be bleating that the red shirts hate the westerners etc etc.

He didnt, the dear general raised it.

Jatuporn could accept it as routine procedure for convicted ex-officers. But he didn't become a wealthy political activist by ignoring issues affecting his boss, even if they are so allegedly trivial.

Ohhh...Fat Haggis, I do wish you had gone to school when you had the chance, please check your grammar and stop embarrassing us Scots folk..........wai2.gif

There's a few factors involved, such as the degree of stake you have in this country, whether you are prepared to speak out against the powerful, the level of criminality you are willing to accept, and how outraged you get when you see the "amply rich" stealing from those with very little. Probably comes across as obsession to the "I'm all right Jack" crowd, and those blinded by the shining light of Thai "democracy".

Because it's only the democratically elected who steal from the public in Thailand, right? The unelected police, military, lawyers etc. are all squeeky clean?

......................"Next he will be bleating that the red shirts hate the westerners etc etc."........................

I doubt it, why would he do that ?

Anyway the reds only hate who they are told to hate, paid to hate. "Someone" would have to give the order and bankroll the whole thing for it to happen.

When you say "obsessed" Fatty, do you mean in a Wile E. Coyote - Road Runner kind of way ?

Because I could just imagine the current PM trying to drop a giant size anvil on Thaksin's melon. biggrin.png

If it is a matter of such small concern, why is Thaksin's paid propagandist bothering to raise it?

Especially in an untruthful manner.

When he says:

Talks about stripping Thaksin of his police rank dated back to 2006

It is a lie.

Thaksin was convicted in 2008. Nobody talked about stripping his rank until his conviction occurred which dictates that it does get removed.

But, then again, Jatuporn lying is nothing new nor surprising.

Ha ha ha.

And the irony that you are more obsessed about people being obsessed about Thaksin is completely lost on you. Like most things going by your many, many posts.

You should get away from your forum jockeying once every week or two and check reality. Thaksin is controlling his lackeys and thugs just as much now as he ever was. Go read up on the amnesty bill. While he does that, people are right to focus on him.

I realise that scheming crook Thaksin doesn't need the money but.....

Is he being paid still as a Lt. Colonel?

Don't you think Taksin give a shit on getting stripped the police rank???????????

Don't you think Taksin give a shit on getting stripped the police rank???????????

Actually, yes. Which is why he's instructed one of his lackeys to say something.

It's about loosing face and loosing something that helps legitimize his position to the masses - Khun Doctor Pol. Lt. Colonel.........

Asians love titles, rank, medals, uniforms and all the supposed privilege that they think it generates.

It's not the rank per se, but what in conveys. And he won't like someone taking anything from him. It reveals he's not above the law, special, and untouchable. That's the issue - face, ego and perpetuating the all powerful myth.

Have I ever claimed that? Most corruption is done covertly. I know of only one criminal with the hubris to blatantly abuse his position for self benefit on a huge scale. Even after he was toppled and convicted, he is allowed to pay MPs to vote to his command, dictate policy, appoint leading power figures and continue to bleed the country. why do you find that acceptable?

it is all part of the witch hunt which diverts from the real reasons the coup happened in the first (or is it 22nd?) place and those reasons are nothing, whatsoever, to do with Thaksin but it does serve to obfuscate and confuse small intellects who can't grasp what is really happening.

That, of course, is the role of most propaganda and brain washing but the most surprising thing is it works on some, supposedly educated, TVF posters too!

So good to know that you are there, with your superior intellect, keeping watch over us less blessed Lan Na residents....

I agree with Jatuporn, talking about stripping Thaksin of his former police rank is only a distraction. Just as much as having people lamenting the government doesn't put those resources on more important things like the economy. The whole team of two people from the Justice Department would surely make a tremendous effect on the economy.

It's up to the opposition parties to provide a better alternative. But as long as they only care for the Bangkok elites the poor will rightly vote for the party that did something to make their lives better, even if they enriched themselves a lot at the same time.

And when they enact the laws and apply them equally to jail those enriching themselves in office, we might see a real democracy. Kleptocracy is not acceptable to me.

"even if they enriched themselves a lot at the same time."........(cough) understatement (cough)

Yes, but they enriched themselves in a very "democratic" manner ! clap2.gif

thanks... that's ok I know it's a struggle for some of you to know the real reasons behind the smokescreen. Enjoy the Chang and thanks again for being a good sport
