BANGKOK: -- Ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra last night expressed deep regret over the deaths of several people in the deadly bomb explosion at Ratchaprasong.

He tweeted on his Twitter last night that he was in Berlin and learned of the explosion in Bangkok with shock and deep sorrow.

He expressed deep condolences to families of those who were victims to the deadly explosion and strongly condemned those who were responsible.

He urged Thai authorities to speedily investigate and to cooperate with both local and foreign specialists to bring the culprit for punishment as soon as possible.

Some of the replies here are truly pathetic.

There is zero evidence as to who was responsible for this bombing - it could be the junta itself...

If Thaksin said nothing, you would condemn him. If he speaks out, you condemn him.

They just can't help but try and brighten the mundane, drab lonely existence that they lead stuck behind a keyboard in the middle of nowhere.

The junta itself is even less probable than Thaksin. He at least would have a reason. But as you say zero evidence so far.

You are right, it could be all sorts... it could be UDD or affiliates, the Junta, separatists from the Deep South, it could even be Anglo-American black ops (a la Blackwater). Actually when I heard about this, I assumed it was Thaksin-affilates but, you're right, it is wrong to point fingers at this stage.

Regular readers will know of my dislike for Thaksin, dating back to before he formed TRT, but I have serious doubts he has anything to do with this. Throwing a grenade at the steps of a courthouse is one thing, it's a mighty big step up to perpetrating an act like this, as callous as this, that would knowingly cause massive casualties. Ditto for the junta - there are more efficient and less dastardly ways of creating security situations in order to lock down their control. Those responsible for this were determined to take as many lives as possible in order to make the ultimate statement, whatever that may be. I'm finding it hard at the moment, in the absence of any other evidence, to believe this has anything to do with the current political situation.

Ok I maybe the only who feels this way But I think the PM should shutdown all Media outlets who write or post anything involving Thaskin. Who gives a flying <deleted> what he thinks or says? Now about the bombing I was sadden about the lose of life of innocent people Some lost fathers, sons, daughters, sisters, mothers and children lost there lives over what? To the limp d-ck cowards who made and set off this bomb I hope your caught and a stick of dynamite is shoved up you where the sun don't shine with a 6 foot slow burning fuse so you can think about what you did before it blows up and ripping you apart. Maybe with rusty razor blade glue to it to better make you feel some pain first.

It is just not that he has spoken the same as we all---IT IS he didn't bat an eyelid to near 3,000 persons murdered presumed missing when he ordered HIS police to carry out the CULL ???

So there is no wonder why his words are near a joke. Better him get lost--a complete hypocrite.

No that is not the case, Taksin is simply a criminal on the run. His opinion either way has no value.

I would describe Thaksin as 'Prime Minister in waiting'.

His opinion is valued by the Thai people, who will elect him (or his proxy) at every opportunity.

How could he possibly be PM it is not allowed from behind bars.

Your post has to be therefore a wind up post......................the last election was a Landslide----36% and scraping to form a coalition with other poor non starters.

ever noticed how he has won then been sort of thrown out through bad governance, and the last time was a lower vote, so next time would be a non starter for him, but that is still a dream for him---more glory---more publicity---more money---and on and on.

Many world leaders will say or send almost the exact same message and millions of private citizens world wide will express the same feeling. Thaksin should be regardeed as, and is part of the latter group and deserves no press cverage on his thoughts nor advice.

Interesting that he wants the government to cooperate with foreign specialists when he refused such help.

So what if he refused such help. Do you agree with him that the govt should cooperate with foreign specialists?

As Mr T suggested it I expect your answer to be no. If dear General suggested it you would agree.

Such is the blindness.

Also @ 265 seats out of 500 they certainly didn't need to go 'scraping to form a coalition'. You obviously don't care about facts. You are nothing more than an ill-informed, annoying troll.

A bunch of posts intended to incite an argument have been removed, as have the replies. This is not the place to express your colour coded political views. Any more trolling of the same will result in a long suspension.

Hmmm I guess he's feeling guilty

Or maybe he needs to respond because idiots like you are pointing fingers?

I shouldn't feed the trolls but none of you have yet to explain....

Thaksin's only political asset is popular support why would he want to turn it against himself?

To hurt the economy? Whatever happens to the economy now the junta has an excuse, why would Thaksin want to give the junta a ready made excuse?

Thaksin wahtever you think of him, hasn't got where he is in business and politics by being completely stupid.

Anybody who abused their authority (trust given though his/her position) and signed an authorization to sell common assets of all Thais to a family member, knowing well that it was breaking a serious law and it could / should bring serious punishment is stupid. He was charged with abuse of power, found guilty and got 2 years in jail and has never appealed.

Are you aware of the monopoly which brought the wealth and the circumstances in which he got the monopoly?

Are you aware of some 15 other serious charges (mostly for serious corruption) waiting to be heard in court against this man? Yes it's true he hasn't been found guilty but it's already been said that there is compelling evidence in many of these cases.

Such an upstanding citizen.

But hey perhaps you admire people who have wealth regardless of the surrounding details.

Well not necessarily true.

There's an interesting argument whether people who cause division in society should be allowed to do so.

Thai citizen but Thai passport cancelled.

Just wondering why Taksin's opinion would have any value ? It's time the media put a blanket ban on this muppet !

Why? isn't this what freedom of speech and media is about? And who are you to speak for the majority of the people who may consider his concerns relevant. Shall we put a blanket on his opinion yet allow others to speculate that he was some how involved. Not all Thais and others buy into the one sided view of Thaksin's past when the system is and always has been set up to accommodate abuse of power, after all we are experiencing it first hand on the contrary.

Because any opinion from any native Thai is relevant and has an equal value.

Your opinion however has no value at all !

RIP for the dead !

Quite extraordinary posts/ rantings.

Whether Thaksin expresses condolences is neither here nor there, it's the media who pick up on his comments & they who should drop him from their lists of reportables.

Perhaps your opinions & thoughts should be given over to the the families of those slaughtered & to the victims struggling to recover during this sad time for Thailand.

Show some compassion!!

Nice of him to offer condolences, especially on Twitter, he always has constructive comments on Twitter

But Thaksin, considered the driving force and chief funder of the protests, was urging Thais through his Twitter messages on Monday to study another film Avatar so they could learn how people using makeshift weapons could defeat a modern army with advanced weaponry.

In the purely theoretical and unlikely eventuality TS would be behind this or know about it, should he maybe have claimed responsibility for it? The only thing which is 100% sure at this hour is: it is not yet known who the perpetrators are and who is/are behind them, period. It is conjectural to say it has anything to do with Thaksin or persons somewhere associated with him; but it is as conjectural to say in the present moment it is definitely not the case. Wait and see, that's all.
