Hello,

I was hoping to get some advice here..

I've set up an e-commerce website and I'm planning on shipping items from Thailand to consumers worldwide.

Is it necessary to set up an export company for this?

Or, is it possible to just have a local bring the items to the post office and have them shipped for me?..

I have a corporation registered in Hong Kong..
Is there any way I could use that? (perhaps have the HK corporation contract someone in Thailand to do the actual shipments?)..

If I were to set up an export company here (which may be necessary to get discounted shipping rates with DHL), what would the cost be to do so?

Any other details I should know?

Thanks in advance,

Jason

Strictly speaking, the exporter (your company) must be registered in Thailand and with Thai Custom's "paperless system". A company registered in another country (such as Hong Kong) cannot be the exporter-of-record. And you need a work permit to do what you describe above.

However, if your items are so small that you can send them by postal mail, you might be able to stay under the radar...
