rjcampbe
Hi all, I've been looking at the various media players for a while and finally bought the Egreat R200s-II. Unfortunately, my experience has been exactly what I feared it would be.... It is a wonderful concept, but it has the most horrific user interface a person could imagine. That is only surpassed by the completely useless manual which only describes what the functions are supposed to do, but not actually HOW to set them up and use them and definitely not how to troubleshoot when (not if) they don't work. It's frustrating that the bigger name companies that make these things lock them up by only supporting a few media formats and play the game of locking you into THEIR services... The ones that are open platforms that will play what you want and not lock you into their services have shitty UI's and worse documentation. Seems like an opportunity for someone... Anyway, my primary intended usage is to have this thing connect to my home lan to access the movies I have downloaded on my PC. I have it connected, wired lan, and I can see the PC from the Egreat... I have gone to the PC, Windows 7, and shared the "Videos" folder to my homegroup. (Note, my windows lan administration / folder sharing knowledge is limited at best...) The first day, I was able to see the videos and get them to play... then I added more movies to that directory, and created some sub folders to organize the content... Movies (sub folders for various genres), TV Series (sub folders for each season) etc... Now, I can see the PC from the Egreat and I can navigate to the Videos folder, but I can't see ANY movies of folders on the Egreat... I've checked the folder sharing... Moved some of the films back to the "root" of the Video folder to see if it was an issue of not supporting the directory structure or something... Rebooted both countless times... Nothing... My patience with this kind of thing is pretty short in the best of times and I'm now way beyond my tolerance of frustration with it. I'm also just out of ideas to try... I have googled, youtubed, and found nothing of use... mostly found forums in languages other than english... Anybody have one of these??? Anybody willing to give some pointers? Or best case, anybody know a techie who would like to make a few bucks to come set this thing up and get it working? Thanks
