Saraburi’s new town plan opposed by environment and civic groups

Most of the participants at a public hearing held at Saraburi Muang district’s town hall to discuss a new town plan for the Muang district have voiced their disagreement with the new plan.

The opponents who represent the people’s sector and environment advocacy groups argued that the existing town plan, although old, is still applicable as it has clearly designated areas in the district into residential zone, green zone, environment conservation zone, forest conservation zone and industrial zone.

They suspected that the new town plan of the Muang district which is part of the new plan for the entire province was designed to accommodate expansion of industries in Muang district.

The opponents said they didn’t want to see Saraburi to be turned into an industrial hub like Rayong or Ayutthaya which are full of factories which would threaten the environment of their province, particularly the Pasak river.

The public hearing remains inconclusive.

not enough pay off money spread around ?

My prediction: There will be enough money spread around by the big businesses that want to build their factories that the people will be ignored and dismissed...business as usual.

One can anyone conclude that the hearing remains "inconclusive?"

Perhaps only those people who alrready have a "done deal" and are just going through the regulatory motions.
