PM sets up bilateral cooperation with Equatorial Guinea at UN Summit

BANGKOK, 30 September 2015 (NNT) - The Prime Minister has discussed the possibility of bilateral cooperation with Equatorial Guinea at the United Nations Summit in New York.

Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha said to Equatorial Guinea President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo that the Thai government would continue to cooperate with other developing countries, including Equatorial Guinea, under the South-South Cooperation framework.

Thailand stated its intention to join the cooperation when it participated in the Asia-Africa Summit held in April this year. General Prayut has urged exporters in Equatorial Guinea to take advantage of a rice trade deal with Thailand to boost market share in both Thailand and other ASEAN nations.

The Thai premier also offered to provide academic cooperation in the areas of agriculture, public health and human resources.

yes they announced there will be no paperwork required for the "fast track" human trafficking between the two nations.

Thailand needs a new source of slave fisherman and Equatorial Guinea needs under aged girls from Laos and Thailand.

It is a win win for both nations.

Shouldn't Prayuth be talking and seeking better bilateral cooperation with the richer nations rather than poorer nations like Equatorial Guinea, Fiji, Antigua and Barbuda. Really a big let down for Thais for their PM ignored by the leaders of the richer nations. A world of difference when Yingluck visit USA and was warmly greeted by Obama and Hillary.

Good company too both being military man and become the the country top guy through coup. Just hope that President Teodoro didn't give Prayuth any silly idea on how to stay in power for last 30 years.

No I expect Teodoro kept Prayuth amused and in awe with his supercar stories. You think Prayuth is rich?

Doubt he will be in awe with his " not too shabby" car stable including a Mercedes S600L and BMW 740Li Series Sedan. He is not rich but very rich.

You obviously have no idea how money there is floating around EG given its oil & gas wealth, granted the spoils are only shared among a select few of the "elites" EG is not a "poor" nation ..the Thai goverment should employ Mark Thatcher to consult on EG he has a lot of experience involving that country ;) Edited by Soutpeel

If you think Prayuth Chan-Ocha is "very rich", with say B700 million or about US$21million then think again

The man, Teodoro, with whom he was ingratiating himself for business purposes is worth $1 billion, making PC-O look like a beggar boy. Teodoro's cook probably drives better cars than Prayuth's German sedans..

Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo

Equatoguinean President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo has looted and plundered his oil-rich country, sharing none of the country's wealth with the citizens. He is said to be worth over $1 billion, while his country's citizens live on less than $1 per day. Meanwhile, his son continues his legacy of a lavish lifestyle which includes a $35-million estate in Malibu and three $1.7-million Bugatti Veyrons.

Another major diplomatic triumph that the Thais need to hear about and applaud. Their leader has really conquered the world stage with this....

When the news broke how many Thais said ' where the .... is Equatorial Guinea ? '
