Thai Tourism Min set to lure back tourists

Featured Replies

Female tourists? Oh! Just remind them not to go to Koh Tao and always take the Ladies only Train for their safety. And do not fall asleep on the overnight train going south. Wear a Burkini or facekini when going to the beach so the men would think you aren't trying to draw their attention too much. Yes! It just might work.

And while busy luring them in, don't forget to relax Thailand's over-stringent Immigration-laws, too please ! wai2.gif

Make it easier for these apparent-saviours of the Thai economy to stay for longer, and so spend even more !

Starting with giving 90-days on-arrival, instead of 30-days, and doing-away completely with the need for Re-Entry Permits ! clap2.gif

To me the word "lure" always has a negative ring to it, but could just be me.

Discover Thainess at a Thai gas station. "Pad Thai and petrol, sir"? "Coming right up.

Does any one think that the TAT has any idea as to how tourists think wen planning a holiday? I would say no

could be applied to bar girls too

Min of Tourism set to lure back tourists

Equipped with a giant butterfly net and a plate of Pad Thai the size of Paris.

Single ladies, Thailand? Yeah right

Gas stations, this has me completely baffled.

Combined IQ of an unicellular lifeform!

launch new campaigns to create new groups of vacationers especially female travelers.

..Stupid plan of Thai Tourism......................so they can easily be raped???

well at least there is one family of a 20-year-old Scottish student who will find it very hard to accept the Minister's assurances that it is especially good for female travellers (or that they will be treated fairly and respectfully if they happen to lodge a complaint) ermm.gif

Am I alone in thinking it sad that a nation, any nation, and the success or otherwise of it's ECONOMY is predicated upon more and ever more people holidaying in their country? No entrepreneurship/ideas for sustainable development of such country for it's environment/citizenry? Simply hoards of 'tourists' descending on another country en mass and all it's attendant problems?

Stupid sexist fear mongering post. How about warning lumpen, aging men about the perils of signing over everything they have to some tart on Walking Street a week after their 'plane touches the tarmac. Many posts/bleats on this forum regards these sad sods, to no avail. Why's that do you think? 'Big/little head' just doesn't cut it any more. Fcking dumb does tho' coffee1.gif

Lure? What will the reward be? Being ripped off constantly is NOT a reward. About time the tourist "authorities" woke up to what actually happens to tourists in their country. Stop bandying figures around to suit the happiness of Thai peoples and Government. Recognise that tourists may return if the tourist enjoys the visit. Therefore, the tourist authorities DO NOT have to keep spending extra money to increase numbers. In this day and age the electronic media quickly carries messages about bad experiences! But, do ostriches ever learn to stop putting their heads in the sand?

You Sir, are overly generous gigglem.gif

Do not forget the Thai Banks ripping the tourists off with their 180 baht ATM Fee.

Very true. Many sites have forums where bad experiences can be told to everyone using the site

give the tourists these assurances:

1. They will be safe from muggings, robbery, rape and murder

2. They will be received within the country with courtesy by the people and institutions of the country

3. They wont be ripped off with multi level fee's

4. Arriving in and departure from the country will be trouble free and quick.

5. They wont have to jump through hoops to get a visa

6. Transport within the country will be safe and reliable

Give these and make sure they are complied with and you wont need silly adverts, the tourists will come of their own accord

Does any one think that the TAT has any idea as to how tourists think wen planning a holiday? I would say no

She does not have the slightest idea and does not make any attempt to do so, besides tourists don't like to be lured.

I just hope she would resign and go home and take care of her general.

She can join the nitwit club and stay clear of tourism affairs.

She should apply for desk clerk or better trainee at a travel agent in Tourismestan.

It's really embarrassing. Like children trying to play house.

Look at the website of the Ministry: http://www.mots.go.th/mots_en57/main.php?filename=index or http://www.mots.go.th/ewtadmin/ewt/mots_eng/main.php?filename=index

This is the 21st century. It's looks like a website designed when dial-up Internet was all the rage.

The reasons why many came to Thailand in the first place are dissolving. Instead of a relaxing and tranquil experience, it's all about money. Hordes of awful tourists, spitting or drinking in the street have descended on the place over the years.

Every square metre commercialized where possible. If you are not buying, move out of the way. It is fast becoming a two dimensional destination. No depth at all.

Now they are desperately scrabbling around trying to feed the monster that has been created.

It appears to escape them that once they start charging 'first world' prices, people expect first world standards.

That's why now they are getting the 's**t end of the stick' when it comes to the quality of visiting tourists.

Most of them couldn't care less about the environment. You might as well release a plague of locusts on the place...oh wait, they have.

Earlier this week the government said 52 million tourists passed through Swampy airport over the past 12 months.

The figures they throw around are meaningless.

They see tourists as nothing more than a cash cow. Its the only part of the Thai economy that works.....taking money from foreigners.

That's 6000 (almost) an hour 24/7. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So they must land planes almost every second minute at Swampy than, very impressive!

Once again TAT have made my day, what a load of drivel but always good for a laugh cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

The good generals wife spouting again! Panic setting in?

Another day, another "Lure"

and what is the great new super innovative plan to bring Thailand up to a new level of tourist heaven???

Temples and OTOP. Wow....

The position of Desk Clerk would not be a good idea, just think of the mess she would make. Trainee doesn't work either. It implies there is a degree of interest to learn which I doubt if there is

Lure? Well, get juicier worms in the hooks. Like having a ban on bargirls over 55kg.

One of the funniest threads for a long time on Thaivisa, not just the original article which is pretty amusing in itself but many of the replies have been excellent.

as for me, I can't wait to visit one of the designated gas stations for a truly wonderful tourism experience.

Unfortunately for you Chupup, TAT had nothing to do with this thread.

All this fishbait was brought to you by the Ministry of Sports & Tourism (MOST) , Mrs Kobkarn (Popcorn) Wattanavrankul, Minister in charge.

But do stay tuned for an alternative shipment of drivel from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) & The Department of Tourism (DOT) wai2.gifgigglem.gifwai.gif
