DSI arrests members of international human trafficking ring in Kanchanaburi

KANCHANABURI, 07 October 2015, (NNT) - Officials from the Department of Special Investigations (DSI), the military, the immigration office and related government agencies in Kanchanaburi have arrested members of an international human trafficking ring.

The arrested men are simply identified as 'Acheji', 'Kayen' and 'Tengsaw', with no known family names or nationalities. The arrest followed complaints by Burmese workers who claimed the suspects on several occasions physically harmed and threatened foreign workers.

The provincial court approved the arrest warrants for the trio, paving the way for authorities to devise an arrest plan.

According to the police, one of the suspects, 'Tengsaw', has allegedly been involved in a number of cases of international human trafficking, drug trafficking, and illegal labor practices. He is also the chief of a mafia gang.

Am I the only one who reads these headlines with great doubt and skepticism, as to the whether real crooks have been nabbed.

Have they been caught only to have a drink and chat with the DSI some business is discussed and they will get bail and be back in business in a day or two.

Will the chief of the mafia gang hide out for a while directing things from afar till it cools down.

Or maybe nothing will happen at all and the story will drop off the radar without a trace.

How come not a single God father of the ring was ever busted?

It's a bit of a leap to conclude suspects are members of an international human trafficking ring (as opposed to a domestic ring?). Anyways I thought the military had already solved all the human trafficking rings in Thailand. Now suddenly here is another one run by the mafia.
