October 30, 201510 yr Today I was riding with my visor up which is unusual for me. I was going around 50 kmh in a forested area. The air was cool and refreshing. 2 bees (I think) flew into my path and went into my helmet and one stung me. It wouldn't have happened if my visor was down. No great harm done. I survived.
October 30, 201510 yr Ouch! I usually ride visor up with sunglasses (or clear glass) to protect my eyes. Don't fancy a bee in my bonnet!
October 30, 201510 yr Had "something" fly into my lid when on the tracks of Chiang Mai. You have never seen someone drop a bike and remove a helmet so fast !. No sting though. Scary as it sounded very angry. As much as possible i kept my eyes closed. With an off-road lid the front is open , so goggles or glasses ( clear and tinted ).
October 30, 201510 yr Had a wasp/hornet hit the soft spot at the base of my throat. Fell inside my shirt - stunned. Few miles down the road, woke up - not happy. All time record for emergency stop.
October 30, 201510 yr I have been riding with my visor down and have had a bee walk up the inside of it. Opening the visor was what got rid of it. Can't win.
October 30, 201510 yr Slightly related I was riding my ZX-9R @ 230 km/h wearing shorts and took a locust in the leg. Wow what a welp the circumference of a coffee mug and 3/4 of an inch high. Needless to say I wore jeans the next time I tried breaking the speed barrier on my Ninja.
October 30, 201510 yr A few years back riding down to Ao Nang I noticed a few riders approaching the other way waving their arms about like crazy, "I wonder what all that's about" I thought to myself, two seconds later I found out, OUCH! 5 stings, no helmet of course.
October 31, 201510 yr Slightly related I was riding my ZX-9R @ 230 km/h wearing shorts Next you will be telling us how dangerous the roads are..
October 31, 201510 yr Try hitting a Rhino beetle when your are doing a fair lick. Really thankful the visor was down, one hell of a bang!
