Anyone had a computer store replace a laptop screen?

What did you pay, did you find a good place to do it?

I have the replacement screen for my 14" Windows laptop.

Many thanks

A similar case (granddaughter cracked it) cost me 3500 Baht (Samsung notebook) at a local one man repair shop in upcountry.

Its quite a basic job.

Open, unplug, replace.

Opening is the only difficult part.

No rocket science included.

BTW: always good to specify where you live. Not everyone is in Bangkok.

Thanks for the info.

I'm in BKK

Will try Nic, as its always good to have a recomendation.

I could probably do it myself, but perhaps best left to the experts.

Cheers

Are screens universal ?

OK....I know they are not the same size , but if you had a $100 laptop and cracked the screen so it did not work anymore , could you pull a screen from another brand of laptop and plug it in ?

Just to get it to work ,

like a desktop and VGA monitor ? a universal connector ?

yes I know it is not the thing to do , but if it would get the job done and you could use the laptop , then you might not mind the duct tape smile.png

There are not only different types of connectors, but what your display actually connects to is different in some cases too.

Laptop screens aren't universal.
