Good samaritan returns bag with more than goods worth more than 65,000 baht

CHIANG RAI, 17 November 2014 (NNT) – A street cleaner has returned a bag belonging to a British owner, and was praised for not accepting any reward to the kind action.

A street cleaner in Chiang Rai Province, Usa Taowkaew returned a lost bag containing 66,000 baht worth of belongings to an English teacher Stephen Wide who is the owner of the lost items.

She said that the bag was found when she was cleaning the street in front of the old bus terminal. In the bag, she discovered a camera and other valuables too. She then submitted the bag with the items to the police who successfully found the owner.

She has said that one should not expect any compensation from a good action, and every person can do good things regardless of their status in the society.

The owner of the bag has said that when he was having dinner with his brother in the evening, he realized that his brother hadnt taken his bag with him like he thought he had.

The bag owner has said that he didn’t expect to have his bag returned, and admires the kindness and goodwill of Ms. Usa Taowkaew.

Top woman..

I admire Ms Taowkaew too.

I reported a similar experience a few months back with the ladies that run the fruit and veg stalls behind the main market.

Never made the national news though, I'll have to wait a little longer for my 15 minutes of fame. cool.png

I can see it now Scea, a video of you running down the road chasing after as street cleaner trying to return her valuables to her. You will go viral for sure. biggrin.png

As irony is not understood by some of those moderating TV, this is yet another example of why the stereotype of Thais as "stupid, lazy, and ignorant" is absolute garbage.

Some of those old girls could well have more in their bags than me.

I love shopping there, they're always cheerful and friendly.
