Hello,

I have a pair of 12v motorcycle speakers with built-in 100w amplifier and bluetooth connectivity. From one speaker there is one cable for live/earth; one for aux, and one to connect the other speaker (this speaker has only the connecting cable). These three cables connect inside a small sealed plastic connection block to a single cable. Apart from plugging in the second speaker the only fitting to do is to clamp the speakers to the handlebar and connect live and earth cable. It works by pairing a mobile phone and using its music and volume to play through the speakers. Inside the first speaker housing is a small circuit board and speaker. The second only houses a speaker.

Everything was carried out as it should have been and the mobile phone found the speakers once they had power and a two tone three beep sound was heard (similar to my TV bluetooth soundbar - so I know that was correct) and paired itself. Music played for about 20 seconds. I connected the mobile then to the aux cable and again the music played for about 20 seconds. Now the mobile is playing music and indicates that volume and music are being played through bluetooth. However no sound from speakers. There is only silence using the aux cable. Although there is power to the speaker cable and the speakers work independently (opening the housing and by-passing the circuit board), many mobile phones tried, can no longer find the bluetooth signal from the speaker. There was an in-line fuse supplied and this has not blown. There does not appear to be a fuse within the speaker housings.

The speakers are now disconnected and are independent from the mc. Does anyone know of somewhere or someone that I could take these 12volt speakers to, with or without the bike, in order for the circuit board to be fully tested and what have you?? They were bought several months ago via mail order from Aliexpress, which is similar to Amazon, (never had a problem before with purchases) so cannot return them. Appreciatively, Johnnort

Sounds like the Bluetooth module/amplifier has gone.

Not unexpected. A lot of 'crap' Bluetooth hardware being sold online with high failure rates. Possibly this is one of them.

You can try looking for a 'reset' or 'pair' button, but most likely the part has blown.

Try googling the item and see if there are other motorcycle forums discussing this or other similar items.

Unless the vendor is willing to exchange it for another, suggest replacing it as these things are not worth fixing.

Thank you RichCor for your reply. I have had no success with car audio places and general electrical repair shops; all saying they are unable to test bluetooth circuitry. As you have mentioned Bluetooth module/amplifier I shall try as a last resort some mobile telephone repair facilities and see what they have to say.

Given the high failure rate of Bluetooth-integrated devices coming out of China, you'd probably be much better off putting together your own Amplified Stereo Speaker system that accepts standard L/R audio input and add either a Bluetooth Module or a stand-alone mp3 player ...a component you could inexpensively replace when it fails.

You sound very knowledgeable RichCor which I am certainly not. These speakers were extremely expensive, and as bought several months ago, the supplier will have nothing to do with the problem even though it is within the last few days that I fitted the bloody things. I just required music loud enough to hear on an mc just like the Goldwings I have had in the past when more affluent. I can use the speakers, which are rated to 100w, in their moldings, even if the bluetooth amplifier is Kapput; so I am half way there. I have ordered a cheap car amplifier which has had a recent addition of bluetooth. It has control knobs and will take usb and sd card together with aux in and is about 90 x 90 x 30mm in size. Your option sounds good and a lot smaller but I have no idea where to buy such things or how to fit. Any ideas?

This sound fine as it will provide you the amplifier and the multiple input options (Bluetooth, SDCard, USB, Aux Audio).

Probably the best option it if works as you hope.
