Blimmin' Huge Bridge...

Featured Replies

Hi all,

driving from Nakhon Pathom to Bang Na-Trat elevated highway going down Rama III road, over Krung Thep bridge and up to the Rama iX bridge before getting onto the expressway to Bang Na...

then saw for the first time a freakin' massive bridge with a huge 'spaghetti junction' type intersection incorporated into it. A truly fantastic piece of architecture.

Now, I realise I could 'google it' and find out about this super-structure, but this method of using TV is more fun and might bring it to the attention of other folk who might want to know too (FYI I have checked google out just now and the bridge is part of a southern 'industrial ring road')

.. which leads me nicely to my next point...

Is there a way to 'swing around' the southern hemisphere of the city, going east-west, without the need to take the route I mentioned initially, i.e. going through the centre and hitting traffic etc? There is the highway 9, the Kanchanapisek Ring road around the to the north, but I don't know around the south.

if anyone can shed any light on the best east-west route, say for example, coming from Kanchanaburi going to Bang Na, that'd be lovely.

Cheers,

James

I think that would be the as yet un-named mega bridge that crosses the Chaophya at two points via Phra Padaeng. Spectacular isn't it? I went over to Phra Padaeng a few months ago to take a look up close. Lots of info on this bridge at this link

I think thats what the new bridge is for.
